The court is hearing that the founder of Wikileaks has jeopardized the safety of individuals and is currently at risk. This is a live update.

The lawyer argues that there is no proof that the release of information by Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks caused harm to anyone.

A court has been informed that Julian Assange endangered individuals by exposing their identities in unredacted classified documents that he knowingly and recklessly shared with the public, potentially putting them in grave danger.

The founder of WikiLeaks did not show up in the High Court for the second consecutive day in his ongoing fight against extradition to the United States. He is facing charges of sharing classified military information.

The individual from Australia, aged 52, is wanted by US officials for 17 counts of espionage and one count of computer misuse. This is in connection with an alleged plot to acquire and reveal national defense information after the release of numerous classified documents concerning the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

According to his legal team, if he is sent to another country, he will be met with an unfair judicial system and is being charged for typical actions of a journalist.

In 2021, a judge decided that Assange should not be extradited to the US due to the potential for suicide, but ruled against him on all other matters.

Currently incarcerated in Belmarsh prison in London, Assange is currently trying to obtain authorization to dispute the judge’s ruling on the dismissal of other aspects of his case.

Who is Julian Assange and what confidential information is he alleged to have exposed?

Seven years ago, Julian Assange raised his fist in the air as he greeted his supporters outside the Ecuadorian embassy. He likely did not anticipate the long legal fight against extradition to the US that would still be ongoing this week.

The 52-year-old from Australia was at the embassy in London, seeking asylum due to a request from Swedish authorities to question him about a rape accusation that was eventually withdrawn.

Assange’s lawyers argue that extradition would be a form of “retribution” for his political beliefs.

On Tuesday, during the initial day of the hearing, Mark Summers KC contended that the US’s prosecution of Assange would be an act of revenge for his political beliefs. This would make it illegal to extradite him under UK laws.

The lawyer stated that this is a clear instance of the government retaliating against the expression of political beliefs.

The judge in the district did not acknowledge it, and if she had, it would have been detrimental to her ruling.

Mr. Summers and Edward Fitzgerald KC, representing Assange, stated in their written submissions that the evidence presented revealed the US’s willingness to go to extreme measures, including exploiting its own criminal justice system, in order to maintain immunity for US officials involved in torture and war crimes during the “war on terror.” They also noted efforts to silence individuals and courts that attempted to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable.

“Mr. Assange was among the individuals targeted.”

It has been reported that the US may have conspired to assassinate or abduct Julian Assange.

The US allegedly had intentions to either assassinate or abduct Julian Assange, as revealed in the High Court proceedings.

Mark Summers, the lawyer representing the WikiLeaks founder, stated that new evidence reveals the US had a plan to potentially assassinate or extradite Mr. Assange to the US.

The district judge was presented with astonishing testimony from a confidential witness, known as witness two.

According to Mr Summers, there was a plot to abduct or harm Assange while he was residing in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for approximately seven years.

He went on to say, “Despite the district judge’s authority, there were clear warning signs.”

The lawyer stated that the plan failed because the UK authorities were not in favor of the idea of rendition or a shootout occurring on the streets of London.

The editor of Wikileaks expresses disapproval of the court proceedings, questioning what information may be concealed.

During the lunch break, Kristinn Hrafnsson, the editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, spoke on stage to discuss the events of the morning.

He stated that he was directed to an extra room, along with numerous reporters, who were unable to hear certain portions of the morning’s events due to a lack of adequate audio reception.

The speaker expressed doubt in the court system’s ability to practice open justice, stating that it is ridiculous that journalists are not allowed to witness a significant case for their profession in current times.

He stated that the matter was assigned to one of the more compact courtrooms in the facility.

“I can’t believe that’s even possible given the overwhelming interest in this case. What are they attempting to conceal?” Mr. Hrafnsson questioned.

What activities has Assange been engaged in so far?

Assange has been limited in his ability to move for nearly 14 years.

In 2010, Swedish authorities requested that the UK extradite Assange due to an allegation of rape made against him while he was in their country. This led to the start of the situation.

After losing his appeal against extradition, Assange was arrested by British authorities and sought refuge in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, citing concerns that the Swedish case could result in him being extradited to the US.

In 2019, Assange was arrested for violating his bail conditions related to the Swedish case, after spending seven years in the embassy. However, the Swedish authorities later dropped their case against him that same year.

Assange received a 50-week jail term and has been detained at Belmarsh prison while battling against being extradited to the United States.
