Donald Trump launched his sneaker line in Philadelphia, a day after he was ordered to pay nearly $355m in his New York civil fraud trial.
The gold high top sneakers, which cost $399 and have an American flag pattern, were first seen at the event known as “Sneaker Con” in Philadelphia. The audience had a mixed reaction of both loud booing and cheering.
“I have been discussing this for 12 to 13 years,” stated the ex-president. “I believe it will be highly successful.”
The event was advertised as “The Greatest Sneaker Show On Earth!”.
According to the sneaker line’s website, there is no affiliation with Mr. Trump’s campaign. However, the previous president suggested that the release of the sneakers was a way for him to connect with younger followers.
“We will swiftly improve the state of this nation. We will not forget about the youth, and we will also not forget about Sneaker Con.”
The website states that the ex-president is offering two types of sneakers with “T” and “45” on the sides for $199 each. The cologne and perfume can be purchased for $99 each.
The announcement coincides with Mr Trump’s efforts to secure the 2024 Republican nomination, potentially leading to a rematch against President Joe Biden.
Nonetheless, he showed up just one day following the ruling that Mr. Trump and his businesses must pay nearly $355 million for artificially inflating the worth of his assets.
The legal problems of Mr. Trump continue to increase, as he has four upcoming state and federal criminal trials. This makes him the initial former US president to face criminal charges in trial.
Michael Tyler, spokesperson for Joe Biden’s campaign, also expressed displeasure with his appearance.
He stated that Donald Trump’s appearance to sell fake Off-White shoes is the closest he will ever come to owning Air Force Ones again for the rest of his life. This refers to the popular sneakers from Off-White and Nike.
Afterwards, Mr. Trump traveled to Michigan where he spoke to his supporters 10 days prior to the Republican primaries.
He falsely accused the judge of being involved in a plot by the “left-wing” to prevent him from being reelected as president. He stated to the audience that these unjust abuses of power are not only targeted at him, but also at the American people as a whole.
He continued to assert that his loss in the 2020 election to Mr Biden was a result of voter fraud.
