Stephen Colbert has playfully teased ex-Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson by purchasing a comparable domain name for his streaming platform.
On Tuesday’s episode, the host of The Late Show discussed the recently launched Tucker Carlson Network. He mentioned that Mr. Carlson’s departure from Fox News was due to accusations of being overly racist.
Mr Carlson had worked at Fox News since 2009 but was abruptly ousted in April this year.
The conservative public figure stated that his termination was a requirement of the agreement made between Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems, following the network’s dissemination of inaccurate allegations about the accuracy of its voting machines.
Following a short period as a host on X, Mr Carlson, a conspiracy theorist, has now turned his attention to a new project – launching his own network with his name as the title.
In a video announcing the change, he states that the network is “consistently truthful in a way that cannot be influenced by corporate gatekeepers.”
A monthly membership for the network is priced at $9. However, Mr Colbert jokingly mentioned that there is also a free option where you will never have to watch Tucker Carlson again.
During the Tuesday night episode, Mr. Colbert displayed an image of the Tucker Carlson Network website, revealing the past and future guests on the platform.
He stated that individuals such as Kid Rock, Martin Shkreli, Alex Jones, and RFK Jr, who are commonly referred to as Mount Douchemore, are popular among the public.
However, the late-night talk show host had a nagging feeling that something was not quite right with the name of the network, stating that it “feels incomplete.”
“Doesn’t it seem more fitting for him to name it The Tucker Carlson Network? He also should have secured thetuckercarlsonnetwork.com for the website,” stated Mr Colbert.
However, he did not do it, but I did,” the host revealed, which was greeted with enthusiastic cheers from the audience in the studio.
Mr Colbert’s personal website features a prominent animation of Mr Carlson performing a traditional Russian dance. The animation also includes links for donations to the World Central Kitchen, Human Rights Campaign, and Donors Choose.
The host of the late-night show even produced a spoof advertisement for the newly launched network, called “Tuckflix”.
The website also features parodies of TV shows with Mr Carlson, such as “Skewed Claims” (a nod to Squid Games), “Orange is the New Sack” (a series about the value of tanning testicles), and “Is He Cake?”, as disclosed by Mr Colbert.
