Russia has initiated an attack using hypersonic missiles in the ongoing war in Ukraine, while the UK has also stepped up its support. Updates will be provided live.

The city of Kyiv was struck by the largest drone attack ever carried out by Russia, resulting in five people being injured.

This morning, Russia executed a formidable attack using hypersonic missiles, following the UK’s pledge to deploy thousands of drones to Kyiv.

Local officials from five regions in Ukraine reported that Russian missiles were successfully intercepted by air defences.

The police reported that multiple private homes and non-residential structures were damaged and one building was nearly destroyed due to being hit by debris from an enemy missile. They also mentioned that a dog was killed in the incident, but fortunately no people were injured. However, officials did not provide any information on whether any targets were hit and gave less details than usual about the attack.

The United Kingdom has promised to provide the largest number of military drones to Ukraine compared to any other country, following a surprise visit by Rishi Sunak to Kyiv.

The government stated on Friday that it will be raising its assistance to Ukraine’s battle against Putin to £2.5 billion in the upcoming fiscal year, which is a £200 million increase.

Rishi Sunak said: “Ukraine will never be alone. Putin might think that he can outlast us but he is wrong. We stand with you today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes.”
