Pete Doherty stated that he is contemplating reaching out to Mark Blanco’s mother, as she holds the belief that he is responsible for her son’s death.
The police interviewed the rock star but did not arrest them for the death that occurred in December 2006. Mr. Blanco fell from a balcony on the first floor in Whitechapel, east London after attending a party with the rock star.
Doherty, who vehemently denies any knowledge of the death, said the story is “just not going to go away” after a recent documentary titled Pete Doherty, Who Killed My Son? aired on Channel 4.
The movie depicts Sheila Blanco’s unwavering determination to seek justice for her son.
Doherty, the lead singer of the band Libertines, who is 44 years old, shared with the i newspaper that he will have to meet his girlfriend’s mother at some point.
I am unsure why that has not occurred. Perhaps I should reach out to her and offer my assistance in any way possible.
“Maybe that’s the only option for me to move forward, since she now believes that I am responsible for her son’s death, or that I have knowledge of the true culprit.”
“I could benefit from speaking to her directly. As I haven’t had the chance to meet or communicate with her, I am unsure of her beliefs. Perhaps the tabloids are not a reliable source.”
“I have no intention of watching that documentary.”
In May 2011, Ms Blanco alleged that the police were attempting to conceal the truth after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that Doherty would not be charged with a crime in relation to the death of Mr Blanco, who was 30 years old at the time.
The CPS stated that there is not enough evidence to prove that Mr Blanco was thrown or pushed from the balcony, or that anyone else was present when he fell.
After an initial investigation, Scotland Yard concluded that Mr. Blanco intentionally jumped. However, a coroner later called for a second, independent investigation after reaching an inconclusive verdict during the inquest.
The officers discovered that either Mr. Blanco committed suicide or he was the victim of a “criminal act,” but they could not determine which one.
The Blanco family was motivated to commission their own expert evaluations of the death.
