Martin Lewis has offered urgent recommendations for those interested in flying with easyJet in late 2020 or early 2021.
The Money Saving Expert shared a video on X (previously known as Twitter) announcing the release of “a fresh selection of seats” available for purchases on flights from 1 December 2024 to 2 March 2025.
In the video shared on March 20th, Lewis discusses an opportunity to purchase goods at significantly lower prices than usual.
The speaker describes easyJet’s use of “demand pricing”, where the displayed price changes dynamically based on the number of people attempting to purchase tickets for a specific flight.
Typically, the least expensive time to purchase flights is when they are first released. However, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, there will be a new offering of 10 million seats for flights departing from the UK.
“When you are able to strike when a product is released, typically it is the most affordable time.”
Lewis mentions that the flights are specifically for the important time of Christmas. He shares an instance from the previous year where a woman tweeted him expressing gratitude and noticing that the cost of a flight to Lanzarote during Christmas was £215 higher at 8am than at 6.15am.
The easyJet website has officially begun its price reduction, with tickets to Paris starting at only £24.99 in February 2025 and Amsterdam flights priced at just £29.99.
It is important to mention that the so-called “dynamic pricing” technique, which Lewis alleges easyJet uses, has taken effect today. As an example, a single trip to the popular Canary Island of Lanzarote on December 20th is currently being priced at a minimum of £264.99.
EasyJet’s website states that they are providing flights to popular destinations for skiing such as Geneva, Grenoble, and Innsbruck, as well as flights to Europe’s top Christmas market destinations like Prague, Vienna, Krakow, and others.
Lewis stated that he believes prices for certain routes may be lowered if there was initially low demand for the available seats, but individuals must trust their intuition when making travel decisions.
“If a flight appears to be costly, then it is clear that a change has occurred.”
This requires more creativity than factual evidence.
