Live updates on the involvement of Michael Gove in the Michelle Mone PPE controversy.

Michael Gove is urging for legal action to be taken against Michelle Mone for criminal charges.

Cabinet minister Michael Gove has been dragged into the PPE procurement scandal involving the firm recommended to top officials during the Covid pandemic by Tory peer Michelle Mone.

On Tuesday, the housing secretary stated that he has collaborated with the National Crime Agency’s inquiry into PPE Medpro. This company was responsible for providing defective protective equipment to the NHS, after being recommended by the baroness to government officials.

During a notable conversation with the BBC, Lady Mone has confessed to previously deceiving others by denying her involvement with the company. She also acknowledged that she will gain from the trust containing £60 million in profits, which was established by her husband Doug Barrowman.

However, she claims that Mr Gove and other government officials were aware of her association with the company “from the start”.

On Tuesday, the senior member of the Conservative party was questioned about her statements. She stated, “There is an ongoing investigation by the National Crime Agency. I have fully cooperated with the inquiry in order to facilitate a timely resolution and serve justice.”

He stated: “I am hopeful that the investigation leads to a prompt filing of charges.”

Farage states that there will be no national election until the PPE scandal is addressed.

Adam Forrest reports that Nigel Farage believes the procurement of PPE should be a topic of discussion in the Covid inquiry before a general election can take place.

He stated that it was unacceptable for the inquiry to not examine PPE deals until the spring of 2025.

Farage stated that the Covid inquiry should address procurement and hold accountable all individuals involved, including Michelle Mone and Michael Gove, in a public manner.

He stated, “We must not hold a general election until we have a clear understanding of why these significant amounts of money were squandered.”

The rate of inflation decreases significantly to 3.9% in the month of November.

In the UK, the rate of inflation decreased to its lowest point in over two years in the previous month. This was due to a significant drop in petrol prices, according to official data which exceeded expectations.

The ONS reported that the inflation rate, as measured by the Consumer Prices Index, dropped to 3.9% in November, a decrease from October’s 4.6% and the lowest it has been since September 2021.

The majority of economists predicted that inflation would decrease to 4.3% in the previous month.

Grant Fitzner, chief economist at the ONS, said: “Inflation eased again to its lowest annual rate for over two years, but prices remain substantially above what they were before the invasion of Ukraine.

The primary factor behind the decline this month was a drop in fuel costs, following a rise during the same period last year.

Inflation was lowered by the slower increase in food prices compared to last year.

“The prices of household goods have also decreased, as well as the cost of used cars.”

Opinion | The Michelle Mone interview was the worst PR comeback since Prince Andrew

Our associate editor, Sean O’Grady, shares his thoughts on Michelle Mone’s interview with the BBC in his latest column.

I am uncertain about the individuals currently advising Baroness (Michelle) Mone and her husband Doug Barrowman.

Is it possible that Hannah Ingram-Moore, in a highly criticized interview with Piers Morgan, caused harm to the charitable foundation created in honor of her beloved father and national hero, Captain Sir Tom Moore?

Lady Mone may have recently attended a typical shooting party where she ran into the Duke of York, a man who is known for his helpful advice on how to handle tricky situations.

The person currently by the dishonorable lady’s side is not effectively serving her needs.

You can access his complete thoughts here.

Nadine Dorries gets involved in controversy surrounding Michelle Mone.

Nadine Dorries has joined the discussion about Michelle Mone’s peerage, urging her to resign from the House of Lords.

The previous secretary of culture, who resigned as a Member of Parliament in objection to her own inability to obtain a peerage, stated that the main inquiry surrounding Baroness Mone was “why she was granted a peerage in the first place.”

According to our political expert Archie Mitchell, the following is his report:

Can Baroness Mone’s title be revoked if she is removed from the House of Lords?

According to our associate editor Sean O’Grady, this is not always the case.

Currently, being a member of the upper house, which involves participating in lawmaking and discussions, does not necessarily mean holding a title.

The majority of individuals who hold historic hereditary peerages, such as viscounts, dukes, and earls, no longer participate in voting in the House of Lords. However, they still retain their titles.

Except for Church of England bishops, all individuals who vote in the Lords hold some form of title.

What caused the current disagreement?

Last week, a conflict arose when Michelle Mone, who has consistently denied gaining profit from the agreement, openly acknowledged that she could potentially earn £60m in profit from a PPE contract made during the peak of the Covid pandemic.

The entrepreneur behind Ultimo lingerie, who was granted a peerage by former Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron in 2015, expressed regret during a BBC interview on Sunday for previously denying her involvement with PPE Medpro. The company, led by her husband, was given government contracts totaling over £200 million to provide PPE after she suggested it to government officials.
