After a difficult year for the family, Prince George is set to celebrate his eleventh birthday with some familiar comforts today.
Alongside his siblings Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 6, the heir to the throne has seen his mother, the Princess of Wales, undergo cancer treatment this year.
However, if tradition remains, Kate would have been up until late last night to bake a cake for her firstborn son.
“I love making the cake,” she revealed to Mary Berry on a 2019 episode of A Berry Royal Christmas. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ‘til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”
The prince’s birthday comes as the chief executive of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games broke his silence on his departure.
Dominic Reid, who has been credited with helping the foundation’s growth globally, stepped down from Invictus after 10 years and six games across three continents.
Mr Reid broke his silence an interview for Forces News where he said the organisation was a “great place” but now needed a “fresh look”.

“The community is what we have achieved. It has had a healing effect.”
