Organizations, scholars, and scholars in Scotland are being urged to seek funding opportunities of an average amount of £450,000.
The government officials are eager to have a large number of qualified groups and people receive funding from the Horizon Europe scheme, which amounts to £82 billion, in order to promote scientific research that benefits everyone.
Scottish companies are currently reaping the rewards of Horizon funding, including Nova Innovation, whose group was awarded over £17 million to advance tidal energy in Orkney.
The average Horizon grant is worth £450,000 and researchers and businesses are being urged to capitalise on the opportunities the programme offers.
The British government plans to initiate a promotional campaign on social media, digital audio platforms, and other channels to promote widespread involvement in the program.
Additionally, it will highlight exceptional scientists and companies who have brought their concepts to fruition with the support of Horizon Europe funding. This will specifically focus on smaller enterprises engaged in research and development.
Michelle Donelan, Secretary of Science and Technology, stated that Scotland is a hub for cutting-edge science and research, from the development of sustainable energy in Aberdeen to Glasgow’s Satellite City.

“Joining Horizon is a huge victory for the UK’s science, research, and business sectors. I am determined to enhance this progress by utilizing the funding available through our unique agreement. This is the reason behind my campaign blitz.”
I aim to guarantee that all regions of Scotland and the United Kingdom are maximizing the benefits of this program.
“We will thoroughly promote the opportunities offered by Horizon to all businesses and institutions conducting research in the UK through a comprehensive communication campaign. Additionally, we will provide grants to support our researchers and businesses in submitting top-quality applications, leaving no avenue unexplored in our efforts to enhance our involvement in the world’s leading research program.”
The UK’s minister for Scotland, John Lamont, stated that Scotland is at the forefront of scientific advancements and R&D in various industries.
The exclusive agreement between the UK and Horizon Europe presents a great chance for Scottish businesses and research organizations to advance scientific boundaries, address worldwide issues, promote creativity, and contribute to job creation and economic growth.
