According to Buckingham Palace, around 7,000 people from all over the world have sent messages of support to the King following his cancer diagnosis.
Numerous individuals have reached out to share their personal encounters with the illness or provide words of wisdom. One individual advised him: “Stay strong, keep a positive attitude, and don’t let it bring you down. Believe me, it helps, but the most important thing is having a supportive family.”
A young person expressed: “Do not give up. Be courageous. Avoid pushing yourself too hard. I hope you recover quickly.”
Charles was especially drawn to a card featuring a dog feeling sorry for itself following medical treatment, accompanied by the phrase: “At least you don’t have to wear a cone!”
The protective device that prevents animals from irritating a wound or stitches post-surgery is known as the “cone of shame” by pet owners, also referred to as an “Elizabethan” or “E-collar”.
The King chuckled upon discovering the card, according to Buckingham Palace’s correspondence team.
People who have provided their address will be thanked, according to the team.
On Wednesday, the monarch fulfilled his initial in-person official obligations – meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and attending a Privy Council meeting – since the disclosure of his condition.
The video displayed Mr Sunak commenting, “It’s great to see you looking healthy,” to which the King responded, “It’s just an illusion.”
The individual, who is 75 years old, expressed that he had been moved to tears by the messages and cards of encouragement he had received. The prime minister assured him that the nation stands with him.
After receiving the diagnosis, Charles has put off all of his public responsibilities, but is still actively working on organizing his red boxes containing state documents.
After receiving news of his diagnosis from the King, Prince Harry quickly visited his father in London.
On his initial trip back to England since September, the Duke of Sussex spent nearly equal amounts of time in the air and on land.
The journey from the US took Harry more than 10 hours, but his meeting with King Charles at Clarence House in London reportedly lasted less than an hour.
Harry later mentioned that his father’s state could potentially bring the royal family back together, sparking rumors that he may be welcomed back into the family. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to spend time with his father and apparently hinted at the possibility of temporarily resuming his duties while the King recuperates.
The monarch was spotted wearing a smile and greeting others while attending religious gatherings at his residence in Sandringham, located in Norfolk.
The specific cancer diagnosis has not been disclosed, and the number of treatment cycles is also unknown. However, it has been confirmed that he has undergone at least two rounds of treatment thus far.
Prior to meeting with the prime minister, he convened a gathering at Buckingham Palace of the privy council, which was attended by Penny Mordaunt, the lord president of the council.
During monthly council meetings, the King publicly approves orders that have already been approved by ministers.
