A memorial service was held in Bristol to honor Brianna Ghey.
A judge has disclosed the identities of two teenage murderers who are facing a life sentence for the vicious killing of Brianna Ghey.
Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe stabbed the transgender 16-year-old 28 times with a hunting knife in a horrific attack on 11 February after luring her to Linear Park near Warrington.
During their trial, they were referred to as Girl X and Boy Y. However, after Mrs Justice Yip decided to lift their anonymity order due to the disturbing nature of their offenses, they were given their real names.
During a four-week trial at Manchester Crown Court, it was revealed that the two individuals had a disturbing interest in violence, torture, and serial killers. Jenkinson even expressed a desire to keep a part of Brianna’s flesh as a souvenir.
At the time, they were both 15, but now they are 16. They had made a list of four other teenagers to harm, but unfortunately Brianna became friends with Jenkinson at school and became the only target.
Esther Ghey, the mother of Brianna, has expressed her desire for the longest possible minimum sentences for her daughter’s “cowardly” murderers while in custody.
The principal of Brianna Ghey recalls the moment the teenager encountered Scarlett Jenkinson, who would ultimately become her killer.
Brianna Ghey’s principal describes the encounter between the teenage girl and the perpetrator, Scarlett Jenkinson.
The headteacher of Birchwood Community High School, Emma Mills, has disclosed that the victim, Brianna Ghey, came into contact with her killer, Scarlett Jenkinson, in the school’s inclusion room. Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, both 16 years old, have been identified as the perpetrators of Brianna’s murder in February 2023. The two killers, who were 15 at the time, were convicted for their “disturbing” plot to fatally stab their victim in a frenzied attack. Mills shared with Sky News on February 2nd that Brianna and Scarlett’s paths crossed during their 10-week overlap in the inclusion room, where Brianna spent her time at the school.
According to the court, the girl confessed to attempting but ultimately failing to kill Brianna by overdosing on ibuprofen.
Scarlett Jenkinson has confessed to attempting and being unsuccessful in her attempt to fatally overdose Brianna Ghey with ibuprofen in the weeks leading up to the murder committed by her and Eddie Ratcliffe of the 16-year-old transgender individual.
At the trial for the two individuals responsible for the death of a child, Deanna Heer KC, the prosecuting lawyer, informed Manchester Crown Court that Scarlett has now confessed to administering an excessive amount of ibuprofen to Brianna.

The court heard that Brianna’s killers were partially motivated by transphobia.
The court was informed that Brianna Ghey’s killers were partially driven by her transgender identity.
Deanna Heer, the prosecutor for the case, stated in Manchester Crown Court that Brianna’s murder was partly driven by her transgender identity.
In Eddie’s situation, there was proof that he made negative comments about Brianna’s transgender identity, indicating that his transphobic beliefs may have motivated him to harm her.
Scarlett may not have explicitly stated it, but her behavior could be seen as pushing Eddie to harm Brianna, considering his transphobic beliefs would increase the likelihood of him committing the act.
She did mention, “The court will surely take into account the defendants’ young age and lack of maturity. Additionally, their supposed ‘kill list’ included non-transgender children.”
Mrs Justice Yip, the judge, concurred with the prosecution’s assertion that there was evidence of remarks that were discriminatory towards transgender individuals.
I will never be able to reunite with my sister and I will have to live with that sorrow for the rest of my days.
Brianna Ghey’s elder sister has shared the anguish of losing her younger sister to a violent death.
“The night we were told that we’d lost Brianna has overpowered the memories I had of her,” Alisha says in her statement.
Brianna had apparently left home that day, but I was unaware as I am not comfortable and feel lonely in my own home.
She expressed, “I am currently experiencing anxiety and difficulty in placing trust in those I meet, as it was someone Brianna trusted who ultimately caused her death.”
“No-one can ever make me feel better. The only thing that would is hearing her voice and laughter, and I must carry that pain for the rest of my life.”

The police have shared video footage from their body cameras of the apprehension of a deviant pair.
What is the reason for being able to identify the teenagers responsible for the murder of a schoolgirl?
The individuals responsible for the death of teenager Brianna Ghey have been identified as Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, revealing their names publicly for the first time.
The two defendants, both 16 years old, were referred to as girl X and boy Y throughout their four-week trial in December at Manchester Crown Court.
Restrictions on identifying or depicting the individuals responsible for her death had been enforced since they first stood trial, but this has now been revoked.
We examined the process of how their true identities were revealed.

The killers behaved like two predators hunting their victim.
During the court proceedings, Wesley Powell, Brianna’s stepfather, stated that even though Brianna had a significant number of followers online, she was actually isolated, susceptible, and in search of a true companion.
Both Eddie and Scarlett were aware of this and took advantage of her weaknesses, behaving like two hunters pursuing their target.
Following the presentation of victim personal statements in court, Mrs Justice Yip expressed, “The statements were incredibly poignant. The emotion in the courtroom was palpable.”
Esther Ghey condemns the killers of her daughter as ‘cowardly’ for their lack of remorse.
Esther Ghey, the mother of murdered teenager Brianna Ghey, has branded her daughter’s killer “cowardly” as they showed “no remorse” throughout the harrowing four-week murder trial.
Ms Ghey stated that Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, who were publicly revealed for the first time by a judge today, were responsible for her death. She described their actions as cowardly, as they both placed the blame on each other without showing any remorse.
Ms Ghey expressed feeling empathy for the pair at times, as they have ultimately brought destruction upon their own lives. However, when she considers Brianna, any pity she may have had dissipates.
I must recall that they showed no compassion for Brianna when they abandoned her to die after deliberately and cruelly attacking her. This was not because Brianna had done anything to deserve it, but simply because one person harbored a hatred for transgender individuals and the other found it amusing.

According to the court, Jenkinson had intended to keep a piece of her flesh as a token.
Deanna Heer from KC stated that Jenkinson alleged Eddie Ratcliffe’s dislike for Brianna was due to her being transgender, but in reality, her reasoning was “quite different.”
Ms. Heer explained, “She was motivated by the belief that Brianna was planning to leave her and she wanted to end her life in order to keep her by her side forever.”
Jenkinson expressed her desire to take a piece of Brianna’s body as a symbol, specifically a part of her flesh.
She also acknowledged a prior occurrence where Brianna fell ill was a result of her attempt to poison her victim with pills.
According to Ms Heer, during a meeting with a probation officer, Jenkinson admitted to intentionally enticing Brianna to the park along with Ratcliffe.
Ms. Heer stated that during this incident, the woman admitted to being the first to stab the victim and then passed the knife to Eddie who proceeded to force the victim to the ground and stab her approximately three times. At that point, the woman took back the knife and inflicted the majority of the stab wounds.
