Due to domestic political issues, the Biden administration was unable to provide any assistance during the monthly gathering of approximately 50 nations that work together to support Ukraine on Tuesday.
In April 2022, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin created the group.
As we await approval from Congress for additional funds to support Ukraine’s efforts, the US will seek assistance from its allies to help fill the gap.

James Kariuki, the UK’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, stated at a Security Council meeting in New York that the war has caused a nearly 20-year delay in the modernization of the Russian military.
During the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, it was reported that Russia’s defense industry is dismantling refrigerators for spare parts and purchasing weapons from North Korea, in direct violation of multiple resolutions agreed upon in this chamber and instructed by the Russian foreign minister. Additionally, their procurement and utilization of Iranian drones involves both countries disregarding a Security Council resolution.

As US funding is delayed, Russia is actively searching for vulnerabilities in Ukraine.
The Pentagon’s senior official stated on Tuesday that Russia’s military is launching missile and drone attacks in an effort to uncover any vulnerabilities in Ukraine’s military. This comes as funding for security assistance from the U.S. is currently delayed in Congress.
Russia has been using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones in their efforts to force Ukraine to use up valuable ammunition and air defenses to defend against the attacks.
“They have not achieved success thus far. Over the past few years, Ukrainians have gained significant experience in dealing with these types of attacks from Russia,” stated Celeste Wallander, an assistant secretary of defense, during a press briefing.
According to Ukraine’s air force, Russia launched a total of 41 missiles at Ukrainian cities on Tuesday. The air force claims that they were able to destroy 21 of the missiles.
Wallander commented on the situation where Republican members of Congress have refused to approve the emergency funds requested by President Joe Biden for Ukraine. They have also expressed their intention to potentially cause a partial government shutdown in order to push for changes in security policies at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Biden has asked for an extra $61.4 billion to support Ukraine by providing weapons and restocking U.S. supplies as it approaches the second anniversary of its conflict with Russia. The requested funds for Ukraine are included in a “supplemental” request, which also includes $14.3 billion for Israel and $13.6 billion for border security.
