This is the time of year to get a good deal on UK summer vacations, leading to many Britons daydreaming about traveling to Europe and other destinations.

When preparing for your trip, it is important to know the limit for your luggage. This will allow you to pack efficiently and avoid expensive fees at the airport. There is nothing worse than thinking you got a great deal on your vacation, only to be hit with a huge bill at check-in because your luggage exceeds the size limit.

In order to protect your new summer clothing and books, here is what you can expect when traveling with the most popular airlines in the world. This includes the amount of carry-on items allowed, the cost of checking in bags, and additional fees for exceeding weight limits at the gate.

Certain fares (not all economy fares) provide a 10kg checked bag, but you can confirm if this applies to your booking here. If not, you can opt to purchase a carry-on bag and priority boarding for £9.99. The website states that if you have a connecting flight with a different airline, their baggage regulations will apply to your Air France trip. It is recommended to check the other airline’s website for their specific baggage allowance.

The cost for additional checked luggage varies depending on the destination. For example, on an Economy flight from London to Montreal, the fee for an extra bag would be €68.

The airline’s website states that the charges for baggage that is oversized or overweight depend on the specific route. Checked baggage must not exceed 25kg (except First Class, where the limit is 40kg) and should have a total dimension of 157cm. The cost of additional baggage depends on the specific route. As an example, a third piece of checked luggage on a flight from London to Mumbai would cost $79.

The fees for excess and overweight baggage vary depending on the destination. For flights to the US, Mexico, and Canada, the charge is €75 per bag. For Latin America, Asia, and South Africa, the fee is €93 per bag. For domestic and European flights, the charge ranges from €12 to €15 per kilogram.

ITA allows you to bring a personal item and one piece of hand luggage measuring 55cm x 35cm x 25cm and weighing up to 8kg. Economy passengers are also allowed one checked luggage weighing up to 23kg.

The cost for extra checked luggage varies between €50 and €70 for a one-way trip.

Extra luggage will cost between €85 and €330, depending on where you are going and how many extra bags you have.
