On a Ryanair flight going from Edinburgh to Tenerife, the plane had to make an unplanned stop in Portugal due to several passengers causing a disturbance and engaging in a physical altercation during the flight.
During a large altercation, the passengers exchanged insults and threw bottles, causing the cabin crew, who were unable to intervene, to separate them two hours into the nearly five-hour flight.
According to reports, children who were on flight FR2969 were extremely frightened and were seen crying during the incident.
Video recorded from within the cabin depicts a male and female gesturing and shouting at each other to, “Be quiet, be quiet!”.
The person replies: “He was the one who had sexual intercourse with you.”
When another woman on board tried to calm the situation, the angry woman responded by yelling, “Shut up you little c***. Shut the f*** up.”
The rowdy passengers were removed from the plane by police in Porto, Portugal before the plane continued its journey to the Canary Islands two hours behind schedule.
One traveler described the “chaotic” journey as the “most awful flight I have ever experienced”.
According to a spokesperson from Ryanair, a flight scheduled from Edinburgh to Tenerife on February 25th was redirected to Porto due to a disturbance caused by a small group of passengers.
”
“Before continuing on to Tenerife, the crew requested police assistance and upon arrival, the local police removed these passengers from the aircraft.” (end)
The issue is now under the jurisdiction of the local law enforcement.
This is the second instance of disorder on the flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife within the past week.
Two individuals were ejected from a Ryanair flight by Spanish authorities following a physical altercation that occurred on the same route only a week before.
Last year, the budget Irish airline experienced a string of similar events. In September, local authorities had to intervene and remove an inebriated man from a Ryanair flight after he caused a disturbance on board. Additionally, in August, a woman was recorded getting into a confrontation with other passengers before being escorted off the plane.
