According to Boris Johnson, a potential second term for Donald Trump as president could have positive effects for the world and be exactly what the world needs. He expressed his support for the Republican party’s favored candidate.
The ex-Prime Minister ridiculed the overwhelming anxiety in Britain regarding the possibility of Mr. Trump winning the US presidential election in November.
Mr Johnson stated that his former companion was not someone who aspires to be a dictator, despite his involvement in provoking a riot that resulted in the unprecedented assault on the US Capitol.
The former Conservative party leader also asserted that Mr. Trump will not betray Ukraine, stating that his extreme unpredictability serves as a strong deterrent to those who oppose the West.
Former British diplomats have issued a warning about the potential “massive” security risks that Britain could face if Mr Trump were to defeat Democrat Joe Biden and win re-election later this year.
Former ambassadors from Washington and a previous head of diplomacy have suggested that government officials prepare contingency plans in case President Trump were to withdraw support for Ukraine and leave NATO.
However, in his most recent article for the Daily Mail, Mr. Johnson argued that the “hysterics” were unwarranted and provided a weak justification for the actions of the former Republican president.
He ridiculed the Church of England, the BBC, and a large portion of the UK’s influential groups for their exaggerated and insincere disapproval, stating that Trump’s popularity in polls had caused some individuals to become overly obsessed with displaying their virtue.
The previous Prime Minister also stated, “The international elite have been shaking so intensely that you could hear the ice clinking in their negronis” during the Davos conference in Switzerland.
Mr. Johnson stated that he did not downplay the severity of President Trump’s actions in urging his supporters to reject the outcome of the previous election and the resulting riot at the Capitol.
Despite the legal controversy surrounding his presidential campaign, Mr. Trump asserted that the American public does not believe he should be disqualified from holding office in the future.
The author stated that rational individuals can recognize that Trump is not trying to become a dictator, and they are growing frustrated with the perceived legal tactics to remove him from the election. The more intense the attempts to eliminate him, the more powerful he becomes.
Although President Trump has been hesitant to show support for Ukraine, Prime Minister Johnson stated, “I find it hard to believe that Trump will abandon the Ukrainians,” citing his previous actions of providing Kyiv with Javelin anti-tank weapons.
He stated that the world requires a leader who possesses a willingness to utilize force and exhibit unpredictability as a significant deterrent to those who oppose the west.
Mr Johnson stated that if the President does what is morally correct and supports the Ukrainians, which he believes will happen, a Trump presidency could have a positive impact on the world.
He stated, “It is possible to argue – and I might as well argue now – that a Trump presidency could be exactly what the world requires.”
The ex-Prime Minister also asserted that the Republican candidate was more inclined than Mr. Biden to provide a free trade agreement to the UK after Brexit. “Trump is the one for you.”
During the time that Mr. Trump was president, Mr. Johnson spent approximately 18 months working at No. 10 without making any progress towards a free trade agreement with the United States.
