According to a recent poll, Boris Johnson could potentially regain half of the lost votes for the Conservative party that were lost during Rishi Sunak’s time as leader.

A recent poll indicates that Boris Johnson would regain the support of voters who were previously lost under Rishi Sunak, and is still the top pick to take over as leader.

According to a survey of 13,534 Conservative voters, the previous prime minister is still the top choice to replace Mr. Sunak, surpassing ten other prominent Tories such as Lord Cameron, Suella Braverman, and Kemi Badenoch.

The study, which was commissioned by long-standing party supporter Lady McAlpine, found that just over half of those who voted Conservative in 2019, but who now intend to vote for a different party would vote for Mr Johnson again.

In contrast, only 39% of the participants stated that they would choose to vote for Mr Sunak instead of Labour leader Keir Starmer.

The most recent research was released shortly after a disagreement among the Tory party regarding hidden polls, such as the shocking “Labour landslide” poll that cautioned of a potential wipeout for the Tories if Mr Sunak remained as leader. The study was funded by an unidentified group connected to Lord Frost and was widely interpreted as an effort to remove the PM from office. This led to demands from prominent Tory member Lord Hayward for stricter regulations on polling before a national election.

The outcome also comes after a challenging week for the Prime Minister, as the Conservative party suffered two by-election defeats and the country entered a technical recession.

Labour won two new seats in Wellingborough and Kingswood on Friday, making it the second largest swing from the Conservative party to Labour at a by-election since WWII.

The loss has prompted members of the party to urge the prime minister to shift direction and embrace more conservative principles, such as reducing taxes, implementing stricter immigration limits, and reversing net zero goals.

The survey also inquired voters about various Conservative leaders, such as Suella Braverman, the previous secretary of state for the home department, and Penny Mordaunt, the Leader of the House of Commons. Both received 23% support, similar to Sir Keir, while Priti Patel had a 22% approval rating and Ms Badenoch received 19%.

45% of Conservatives in 2019 stated that they would consider voting for the Tories again if Mr. Sunak were not the leader. Meanwhile, 80% of former Conservatives believe that the party would have a better chance of winning if they had a leader who supports traditional Conservative values.

The poll shows that the Labour party currently has a 22-point advantage over the Tories, who are at 20 percent, with 13 percent for the Reform party and 10 percent for the Liberal Democrats.

According to the poll conducted by Whitestone Insight, replacing Rishi Sunak could potentially result in a complete loss, a honorable defeat, or potentially managing to hold onto power.

According to Lady McAlpine, a Conservative win could be achievable if Boris Johnson were to lead a “fresh and morally upright Conservative Party”.

In an interview with the Telegraph, she stated that while intelligence may be present, it is not visible due to a lack of personality and charisma. According to her, strong charisma is a necessary trait for effective leadership.

Mr. Johnson departed from Parliament in the previous year due to being discovered as having intentionally given false information to Members of Parliament regarding his involvement in the partygate scandal.

The ex-prime minister was compelled to step down due to his mishandling of the scandal, and was subsequently ousted after a scathing report from parliament on his actions.

Despite the challenging by-election results, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak maintains a positive outlook and acknowledges the difficulties. He stands by the effectiveness of his plan and assures everyone that there is a brighter future ahead for them and their families.
