A man who was on a flight leaving the UK for a family emergency felt violated when another passenger spent the entire journey taking videos and pictures of him.
The 21-year-old man posted on Reddit, asking if he was in the wrong for not allowing a nosy girl to vlog next to him on the airplane.
“AITAH” is an abbreviation for “Am I the a**hole?” and the forum enables users to express their viewpoint on the parties at fault in situations posted on Reddit.
The man, feeling sad and worried, ended up sitting next to a talkative 22-year-old woman. She moved from the aisle seat to the middle seat in order to capture the plane taking off on camera.
“I woke up and she had the camera pointed at me,” stated the Reddit user. He then explained that he had to inform the woman that he did not want to converse so he could go back to sleep.
He stated, “I believed she had ceased to bother me for a moment as it was quiet, but upon opening my eyes, I noticed she was recording me. I raised an eyebrow and she chuckled. I asked her to stop, to which she laughed and reminded me that I had only mentioned not wanting to talk, not being filmed.”
The man alleges that the vlogger then proceeded to record herself saying to the camera, “he is so irritable.”
A male passenger sitting in the aisle seat notified him that the female passenger had been attempting to behave foolishly, such as pretending to touch his face, waving her hand in front of his eyes, and comparing hand sizes, and even placing her shoe next to his while he was asleep.
According to reports, when asked about her consent, the woman claimed that she did not require it. However, she stopped filming after the man threatened to report her to the cabin crew.
The girl who felt entitled eventually dozed off, repeatedly resting her head on my shoulder. I kept pushing it away, but she would become frustrated and put her head back again.
He stated, “She expressed that I had messed up her video. It was her initial visit to this nation and I was setting a negative tone. She also mentioned that I was solely responsible for giving her a negative view of men in my country. I was not representing the brand well.”
The Reddit post received 165 comments from the community, with the majority concurring that the man was “NTA” – not the a**hole – in the narrative.
According to a user, it is not appropriate to expect others to engage with your content simply for your convenience. This post was particularly upsetting and the person responsible is completely out of line. It’s difficult to even know where to begin addressing the issue.
Another commenter advised, “In the future, if this situation arises again, notify a flight attendant and make them aware that the person sitting next to you is recording you without your permission.”
