A female individual passed away following her vehicle’s descent into the River Tavy located in Devon.
On Thursday morning at around 10am, rescue teams were dispatched to search the river near Plymouth’s Lopwell Dam following reports of a car entering the water.
The woman was saved from the vehicle by firefighters and quickly taken to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious and is not thought to be related to Storm Ciarán, which has battered southwest England this week.
Her relatives have been notified and a medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of her passing.
The investigation of the river where her vehicle was discovered concluded when no additional injuries were discovered.
A representative from the police stated that the death is currently being investigated as unexplained and officers are looking into the details of the event.
“The vehicle was secured by the fire department and has since been retrieved.”
