Authorities are conducting an inquiry following the death of a woman in a residential fire in east London.
On Saturday morning, a fire on Homerton High Street in Hackney was attended by approximately 30 firefighters and six fire engines.
Part of a ground-floor flat was damaged by the blaze. Crews found a woman inside the property, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The London Fire Brigade was summoned to the scene at approximately 8:20am and the fire was contained within 90 minutes. Firefighters from Homerton, Leyton, Stoke Newington, and nearby fire stations all responded to the blaze.

The situation is currently being looked into by the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service. The identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed.
A representative for the London Fire Brigade announced that a woman passed away after a fire broke out in a flat in Hackney. Six fire trucks and approximately 30 firefighters were dispatched to a fire at a five-story building on Homerton High Street.
“A portion of the first floor apartment sustained damage from the fire. The body of a woman was discovered in the apartment and was tragically pronounced deceased at the location.”
