According to a new book, the Queen who passed away believed that Princess Diana was a more suitable match for Prince Andrew than her oldest son, the Prince of Wales.
In her new book, My Mother and I, Ingrid Seward, the ex-editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, has revealed details about the early relationship between Prince Charles and Diana.
According to a recent article in the Daily Mail, Seward claims that Queen Elizabeth II was introduced to Lady Diana Spencer during a 1980 visit to her sister Jane’s home on the Balmoral estate. Jane was married to Robert Fellowes, who was the Queen’s private secretary at the time.
After her second visit, Diana received an invitation to attend a four-day royal house party at the castle.
Seward described how the future princess captivated everyone with her early morning walks in the garden.
According to the book, the former Queen had two concerns regarding her son’s new partner. Firstly, she questioned whether someone of 19 years old could distinguish between the person and their obligations as a member of the royal family. Secondly, she believed that Diana would be a more suitable match for her younger son, Prince Andrew.
King Charles and Princess Diana had a 15-year difference in age.
The biographer mentioned that while most of the women stayed in bed until the guns were fired, Diana was always an early riser. If you glanced out your window at 7:45, you would see her strolling in the garden, as she made it a priority to be there to bid farewell to the departing guns.
At that moment, she revealed her most cunning move. She began to spread the word about her deep affection for Balmoral, praising it as a enchanting and awe-inspiring location that captured her heart.
In January of 1981, Queen Elizabeth extended an invitation to Diana and Charles to visit her home, Birkhall, on the Balmoral estate. Later that month, the future Princess of Wales was also invited to stay at Sandringham.
The book states that Princess Diana put in a lot of effort to adapt to her new affluent lifestyle, but her hard work ultimately paid off when she received a proposal from Charles and moved into Buckingham Palace a few months prior to her wedding.
According to Ms Seward’s latest book, the Queen believed that the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding dress was “too white” due to her previous marriage before meeting Prince Harry.
According to the monarch, a divorced person getting remarried in church should not appear so ostentatiously pure, as stated by Seward.
Before her marriage to Harry in 2018, Meghan was previously wed to film producer Trevor Engleson. However, they had divorced four years earlier.
