It has been suggested by a flight attendant that hotel guests should place a bottle under their beds upon entering their rooms as a way to check for potential hidden individuals.
Esther Sturrus, an employee of KLM, a Dutch airline, frequently shares travel-related videos on her TikTok account. She recently gave a tip on solo travel in one of her videos.
Visitors may become the focus of unauthorized individuals and invaders, particularly if they are lodged on the first level or in accommodations that can be easily entered from outdoors.
According to her video, if you ensure that the bottle emerges from the opposite side, you can effortlessly “verify if anyone is under the bed without visually checking.”
The video also provides advice on how to store toiletries, use steam from the shower to “dry clean” your clothing, and remove steam from the bathroom mirror.
A new video was posted in October 2022, showcasing the initial tasks she completes upon arriving at her hotel room. It has received nearly 39 million views and includes advice such as securing the door, drawing the curtains, and adjusting the air conditioning.
Some TikTok users have expressed admiration for the helpful tips. One user commented, “I never thought about the possibility of someone being under the bed.”
One individual described the advice as “extremely beneficial”, while another mentioned that “flight attendants are the true MVPs”.
In April, Ms Sturrus gained attention for her top 10 travel suggestions, including leaving a shoe in the safe.
At the time, she mentioned that following this method will ensure that you never leave anything behind in your safe. You will realize if you are missing a shoe when you are ready to depart.
Some suggestions and tricks have been met with less enthusiasm. In March, a TikTok user named NDA shared a ‘hack’ where he purchased three fully refundable tickets in the same row and then returned them shortly before take-off, resulting in having a whole row to himself. This idea was met with mixed reactions, with some questioning its effectiveness due to overbooked flights and others deeming it unethical.
