A British tourist, accompanied by his wife, passed away on a flight to Chile.
On Saturday, the 59-year-old and his companion were journeying from the Falkland Islands to Punta Arenas, a city in southern Chile. Unfortunately, a tragic event occurred during their travels.
The vacationer died before the flight, which was run by Chilean airline LATAM, arrived.
He and his wife were scheduled to board a second flight to the capital of Chile, Santiago de Chile.
The Chilean police from a department that investigates murders greeted the plane upon its arrival at Carlos Ibanez del Campo Airport.
Deputy Commissioner Diego Díaz, from the specialized team located in Punta Arenas, informed the local media that detectives from the Punta Arenas Homicide Brigade were sent to Carlos Ibanez del Campo Airport on Saturday, following orders from local prosecutors. This was after a 59-year-old British tourist passed away while on a plane travelling from the Falkland Islands to Punta Arenas, before his scheduled flight to Santiago.
After investigating, authorities did not find any evidence indicating that the man’s death was caused by a criminal act. Díaz also stated that the man’s wife was interviewed and revealed that he had several preexisting health conditions.
The scheduled autopsy, set for either Sunday or Monday, is anticipated to confirm that he passed away from natural causes.
The location of the unnamed man’s wife on Sunday was not immediately known.
Following the death of a passenger on a Jet2 flight last month, the plane was forced to make an unexpected detour.
According to reports, the man was discovered deceased in the bathroom on January 2nd when other passengers noticed the door had been locked for an extended period of time and informed the staff.
The scheduled flight from Tenerife to Manchester had to make an unexpected landing in Cork, Ireland instead.
A passenger informed the Mirror that everyone on the plane was deeply distressed by the tragic event.
