The month of fashion has arrived, and models are preparing to walk the runway in New York, London, Milan, and Paris.
Fashion designers will showcase their autumn/winter 2024 collections, and famous figures are undoubtedly preparing to take their seats in the front row.
The fashion week event held in February and March is always captivating because it coincides with awards season. This results in some breathtaking outfits from the runway being chosen for the red carpet almost immediately.
This is what you can anticipate during the ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks…
New York
When will it occur? February 9th to 14th.
Who is scheduled to appear? Following the great reception of his first time as creative director at Helmut Lang, Peter Do will once more start off the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) lineup.
In other places, there are a small number of familiar names making a comeback. During the previous season, Christian Cowan’s fashion show in Paris gained widespread attention with a lively performance by Sam Smith and a large fluffy ball making its way down the runway. Now, he is returning to his home country for another show. Coach and Thom Browne will also be making a comeback, with the latter now serving as chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Browne’s show will likely be dramatic, as he returns from a recent show in Paris.
Some familiar names, such as Tommy Hilfiger, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors, and Brandon Maxwell, will likely showcase why New York is known as the edgier and trendier fashion capital during fashion month.
Unfortunately, we won’t have the opportunity to see the Marc Jacobs show, as he recently debuted his newest collection in an unconventional presentation featuring dolls to commemorate his 40 years in the fashion industry.
London
What are the dates? February 16th to 20th.
Who is attending? London Fashion Week (LFW) is gearing up for a significant year as it marks its 40th anniversary. LFW has recently made a significant change by implementing a ban on fur, ensuring that it won’t be featured on the runway.
The schedule is not very surprising, as it includes familiar designers such as Ahluwalia, David Koma, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, JW Anderson, Molly Goddard, Richard Quinn, and Simone Rocha.
Burberry continues to be a highly anticipated event during London Fashion Week, as designer Daniel Lee prepares to showcase his third collection. The iconic brand has already generated excitement for the upcoming show by taking over Harrods and transforming the store into a sea of their signature color, “Knight Blue.” Special guests such as Naomi Campbell and Mary Berry were invited to attend the launch party for the brand’s pop-up store.
Milan
What is the date? February 20th to 26th.
Who is set to present? The spotlight will be on Sabato De Sarno, as he unveils his second collection for Gucci’s womenswear line. His first showing received mixed reactions, making this an opportunity for him to further demonstrate his creative direction for the brand.
There will be new faces at Milan Fashion Week (MFW), such as Adrian Appiolaza leading the first show for Moschino. This event is expected to evoke strong emotions, as Davide Renne was originally chosen to take over for Jeremy Scott, but tragically passed away only 10 days into the role.
Similar to Paris, Milan is typically dominated by well-known and prestigious fashion brands, rather than emerging designers like those seen in New York and London. However, in recent seasons, Dolce & Gabbana has provided a platform for a newer voice to showcase their work in Milan. This time, London-based designer Feben will be presenting her latest collection.
Designers such as Prada, Tom Ford, Versace, and Bottega Veneta will complete the lineup for a star-studded Milan Fashion Week.
Paris
What is the date? February 26 to March 5.
Who is scheduled to appear? Louis Vuitton will once again be the finale show of Paris Fashion Week (PFW), and it’s expected to be a significant event as creative director Nicolas Ghesquière commemorates his 10th year with the brand.
In other places, the focus will be on Seán McGirr as he leads the way at Alexander McQueen, and Chemena Kamali will also be making her first appearance at Chloé.
Lacoste is set to make a comeback on the fashion calendar after being absent since 2021. The brand will be joining other big names such as Victoria Beckham, Schiaparelli, Balmain, Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Chanel, and Dior.
