As we browse fashion showcases, we do so with enthusiasm and anticipation… especially to see how these elaborate outfits will be transformed into practical, desirable pieces that we eagerly anticipate wearing.
With our favorite styles receiving a small update and alluring separates making an appearance, we can’t wait to sport these must-have looks when they hit the stores.
1. Short shorts
During the warmer months, there is a trend towards showing more skin, and for the spring/summer season, the shorter mini skirt is being replaced by even shorter micro shorts. This means it’s time to flaunt your legs.
Models confidently walked down the runway, showcasing mini shorts from Paris to Milan. The designer Nina Ricci elevated the trend by incorporating fishnet tights for a seductive yet polished style, while Max Mara opted for a sleek combination of silk shirts, oversized jackets, and strappy heels.
In any case, elegant neutral tones, snake print patterns, and crisp tailoring represent fashionable choices for the spring season.
2. High waisted
High-waisted pants are guaranteed to be popular, as they look great on everyone. If you want longer looking legs, opt for a high-waisted style that suits you best.
As seen at Aadnevik, Rokh, Ralph Lauren and Emporio Armani, wear with a cropped top, tailored jacket – or, as a twist on an old favourite, a bandeau top with bare midriff to show off your waist.
3. White dress
We love nothing more than the wanderlust, dreamy atmosphere that envelops us when we wear a white maxi dress and puts us in a cheerful state.
Some famous designers like Michael Kors, Stella McCartney, Valentino, and Susan Fang incorporated the charm of broderie anglaise and ruffles to create a light and refreshing interpretation of fashion’s most romantic shape.
Enhance the laid-back feel of your sheer dress by pairing it with T-strap flat sandals or white platform sneakers.
4. Craft
Combining bohemian style with artisanal techniques, the craft trend incorporates crochet, fringes, tassels, and embellishments – all under the umbrella of craftwork.
At Bottega Veneta, large pom poms decorate crocheted dresses; Valentino showcases laser-cut florals, while Asai features twisted strands and elaborate fringing.
By the time the high street embraces these eclectic creations, you can look forward to toned down, tactile pieces with movement – and a good measure of artfully placed decor.
5. Florals
Flower power and plush posies were speaking volumes on the runway with petal prints, petal-shaped curves and all matter of flora flourishing in the new collections.
Some of the standout moments were the shows from Burberry, Paul Costelloe, and Rodarte. In particular, Rodarte’s ready-to-wear line featured a beautiful combination of a slip dress in a floral silk fabric and a long, flowing pink silk cape. It was truly stunning.
You can choose to wear a dress and cape combination, which is ideal for elegant garden parties, or opt for fancy floral prints to convey a feminine look. This style is timeless and will never go out of fashion.
6. Transparent skirt
There are numerous ways to incorporate this new addition into your wardrobe.
While Erdem, Jayne Pierson, and Louis Vuitton models strutted down the runway baring their underwear, this sheer skirt trend can easily be modified with larger undergarments such as high-waisted hot pants or footless opaque tights.
If you are confident enough to reveal, consider pairing coordinated underwear in matching colors, featuring lace detailing, decorations, or eye-catching sequins… created to be noticed.
7. Metallics
This season is your time to sparkle, whether with a small glimmer of silver or a full display of crystals.
However, if you’re experiencing a sense of familiarity, note that silver models have been appearing on runways for the last few seasons.
Popular fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen, Schiaparelli, Courrèges and Roksanda are all continuing to embrace the use of lamé and metallic materials in their designs, and we are following suit.
Also, while some styles suggest being cautious with accessories, incorporating more metallics is considered stylish.
This is fantastic news if you’re interested in a stunning pair of silver kitten heels, the must-have shoe for spring/summer 2024, to pair with your silver pants. Alternatively, you can pair a stylish silver handbag with a striking silver dress for a night out.
In both scenarios, silver is the standout star on our list of desirable items.
