Jade Robertson, the designer, expressed her surprise when she saw Taylor Swift wearing one of her dresses while out with Blake Lively.
During an interview with The Times on January 11, the designer openly discussed the appearance of the 34-year-old singer. These remarks from Robertson were made shortly after Swift was seen wearing a green velvet mini dress with long sleeves from his brand, Little Lies, while out at a restaurant in Brooklyn with Lively.
In an interview with The Times, Robertson shared her surprise at seeing Swift wearing the dress and revealed that she later found out the singer had bought it herself.
“I was completely taken aback at first,” she stated. “We were unaware that she even owned the dress. It turns out she had actually made the purchase on her own. She had placed the order and paid for it herself.”
The designer from Scotland discovered that Taylor Swift had worn her dress after receiving a WhatsApp message from a member of her design team. The team member then located the specific order and suspected that Swift had purchased the item under a fake name.
On January 11th, Robertson informed The Times that the Sweet Jane Olive mini dress, worn by Swift, was already sold out when she checked her website. She also mentioned that the dress had been in low stock since its initial release in August 2023.
Robertson mentioned that even though the dress has gained popularity because of Swift, its price will remain unchanged.
She also commended the “Anti-Hero” artist for her success and fashion sense, stating: “I am a fan of her music, but what truly stands out to me is how she has embraced a Stevie Nicks-esque style.”
On 11 January, Little Lies first took to Instagram to share snaps of Swift wearing the green dress, which she paired with gold necklaces, a black purse, and brown, leather thigh-high boots. In the caption, the brand went on to recall its reaction to seeing the Grammy Award winner in that look.
“Little Lies is ecstatic to see Taylor Swift donning our Sweet Jane Olive Mini Dress – a dream come true! We are in disbelief and cannot contain our excitement over her stunning look. She has truly nailed the styling!”
According to Little Lies, although the dress is currently out of stock, customers can place a pre-order for it on the company’s website. The dress is currently priced at $76 and will be shipped to customers once it is back in stock, according to the small business.
On January 12th, during an interview with People, Robertson revealed her reaction to seeing Swift wear the Little Lies dress for the first time. She described January 11th as “the wildest day” for her brand. She also mentioned how initially, Little Lies did not know that the outfit was purchased by the pop star when the order was placed.
She explained that they were unaware of the situation and had no knowledge of the dress. It was not a gift from the press or a PR arrangement. She personally made the purchase under a false name, which they were not aware of.
In an interview with the magazine, Robertson also recognized the significance of the purchase for Little Lies and described Swift as the “most well-known person in the world”.
“It is truly amazing for her to not only purchase and support our small independent brand, but to also wear it,” she expressed. “She understands the impact this will have better than anyone else. We are extremely grateful for her support.”
On 10 January, Swift was first spotted in the green mini-dress and her brown Jimmy Choo x Jean boots, which retail for $2,450. During the outing, she and Blake Lively had dinner at Lucali pizza restaurant in Brooklyn, New York.
During a stroll with her close friend, the actress from Gossip Girl sported a tan suede mini skirt and a striped sweater in black, yellow, and red. She completed the look with chunky red heels and a Louis Vuitton handbag. As for jewelry, Lively chose a silver ring and a gold necklace.
