Margot Robbie proved once again that she reigns supreme in Barbie-inspired fashion with her pink-toned ensemble for the 2024 Golden Globes.
The lead actress in the movie directed by Greta Gerwig, featuring the popular Mattel doll, made an appearance on the red carpet on January 7th wearing a dazzling hot pink dress designed by Armani. She completed the look with a mesh shrug in a complementary pink hue.
During an interview with Marc Malkin at the red carpet event, Robbie disclosed that her outfit was influenced by the iconic 1977 Superstar Barbie doll. Just like Robbie, the classic doll also donned a pink full-length dress and a tulle scarf.
“Why did you choose to wear pink today?” Malkin playfully inquired of Robbie, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for her portrayal of the iconic doll.
When asked, Robbie replied, “I’m not sure, I just woke up and had a feeling this would be fitting for tonight.” She mentioned that she was wearing Armani and dressed as Superstar Barbie from 1977. Additionally, Robbie admitted that she truly felt like Superstar Barbie at the awards ceremony.
During the interview on the red carpet, Robbie also shared her thoughts on the impact of seeing a large number of people wearing pink at movie screenings. She described it as an exhilarating feeling and noted that it reminded her of the shared experiences she had at theaters as a child.
Robbie has frequently looked to Barbie’s impressive fashion past for inspiration for her red carpet outfits. Throughout the film’s press tour, she sported multiple looks that paid homage to the iconic doll, such as a pink Balmain minidress inspired by the “Earring Magic” Barbie from the 90s, two custom Versace ensembles based on the “Day to Night” Barbie from 1985, and a black and white striped minidress by Hervé Léger in honor of the original 1959 Barbie.
The latest appearance of the star from “Wolf of Wall Street” on social media has received a lot of positive feedback. One person tweeted, “Margot Robbie always rocks her Barbie-inspired outfits,” while another commented, “You go Barbie, you deserve all those awards, babe!”
In 2023, Barbie was the top-earning movie and received nine nominations at the Golden Globe Awards.
