Lil Nas X completed a half marathon wearing designer sneakers due to not having any running shoes.

Lil Nas X successfully finished the New York City Half Marathon while wearing a pair of designer shoes.

Country music sensation Lil Nas X, age 24, participated in his first ever United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on Sunday, March 17th. He made quite the fashion statement in a pair of Coach leather high-top sneakers. As reported by Page Six, the rapper attempted to purchase a suitable pair of running shoes beforehand, but unfortunately the store was closed, forcing him to rely on his stylish kicks instead.

Lil Nas X, whose birth name is Montero Lamar Hill, selected Coach’s Distressed High Top Sneaker in white as his preferred footwear. These sneakers are currently out of stock on Coach’s official website but are purchasable on Amazon for $162.25.

Lil Nas X made a fashion statement by pairing his high-end shoes with a fitting green long sleeve shirt during the St. Patrick’s Day half marathon. This event was the artist’s first experience running outside, according to reports from Page Six.

After finishing the race, he posted a video on his Instagram Story to demonstrate his exhaustion by using a wheelchair to move around, as he had just completed a 13-mile run. According to Men’s Health, he humorously commented, “Well… the race went well. It’s giving race!”

The half marathon was hosted by the New York Road Runners (NYRR), a non-profit group that organises 60 races each year. Over 27,000 runners participated in this year’s event, the largest number in its history. The course started in Brooklyn and continued over the Manhattan Bridge and FDR Drive, with a scenic route through Times Square before finishing in Central Park.

Lil Nas X, the performer of “Montero”, completed the race in 2:32:53 according to the NYRR’s race results. He was joined by Roberto Mandje, Senior Advisor for Running Engagement and Coaching at NYRR. A representative from NYRR stated to The Independent that Lil Nas X will be given New Balance shoes and clothing as a reward for taking an interest in running.

Some other well-known individuals, including Amy Robach and TJ Holmes, who are both enthusiastic runners, also participated in the half marathon with Lil Nas X. Even Catfish’s Nev Schulman was among the 27,000 runners who took part in the event.

The musician has been a representative for Coach since 2022. He was featured in the company’s “Courage to Be Real” commercial and had a role in a video directed by Petra Collins. Additionally, he walked the runway during Coach’s Spring/Summer 2023 show at New York Fashion Week in September 2022.

In December of last year, Coach and Lil Nas X collaborated to introduce “The Lil Nas X Drop,” a collection including various bags, biker jackets, and shearling coats.
