Jennifer Lawrence shared details about a fashion mistake she encountered during her initial visit to the Sundance Film Festival in 2010.
The 33-year-old actor openly discussed his experience at the yearly film festival in Park City, Utah, in an interview with People on January 24. He humorously pointed out that a good indicator of a celebrity’s first time at Sundance is their choice of footwear.
“They’re the individuals who are not wearing appropriate snow boots,” she mentioned regarding newcomers at Sundance, before admitting, “I was one of them.”
During her initial appearance at Sundance in 2010 for the debut of her breakthrough film, Winter’s Bone, Lawrence admitted that she made a mistake by wearing the incorrect shoes. This caused complications throughout the evening.
“I remember struggling to walk in my Louboutin boots on the icy streets,” she said. “It was definitely a standout moment.”
The star of the Hunger Games mentioned that even though the event involved snow, it was still an enjoyable experience. She also shared that she learned a new term, “catty corner,” while trying to navigate through the snow.
In spite of the fashion blunder at the 2010 Sundance event, Lawrence recalls the experience mostly as “lovely and chilly.” She also noted that it was her initial exposure to the results of working in the film industry.
She recalled it as the first occasion someone expressed interest in interviewing her because they believed she was a talented actor.
Lawrence has previously discussed experiencing a wardrobe malfunction during a high-profile event. In November 2023, she participated in the official countdown to a light show alongside Marc Metrick, CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue, and Delphine Arnault, CEO of Christian Dior, at a Dior event held outside of Saks Fifth Avenue.
As she neared the stage, a loud sizzle could be heard from the microphone in front of her, causing her to startle and jump. The sudden volume of the microphone and her surprised response caused her Dior belt to become disheveled, leading the buckle to unexpectedly pop open.
During the event, a video captured Lawrence exclaiming, “Thank you… Oh my god,” as her black belt came undone from her waist. She quickly covered her mouth and laughed, apologizing for the loud noise and her belt popping off.
