At the Vogue Brazil Ball, Dakota Johnson donned a dress that took inspiration from the character Madame Web.
On February 14th, the movie “Madame Web” will introduce the actor to the Spiderverse. The story centers around Cassandra Webb, a paramedic who gains clairvoyant abilities after a life-threatening incident.
At the Vogue Brazil Ball in Rio de Janeiro, the 34-year-old star of Fifty Shades of Grey wore a sheer dress from Annie’s Ibiza that was embellished with crystals and intricate web-like designs. Johnson shared a photo on her Instagram, showing that the back of the dress was also sheer and she chose to wear a nude bodysuit underneath.
As stated by the brand, the dress is a personalized rendition of their Cobweb Mini Dress and its shimmering crystals are designed to mimic “dewdrops on a spider’s web in the morning light.”
According to reports, the actress completed her outfit with a coordinating, hand-embroidered sheer black veil that draped over her shoulders and back, showcasing a large spider web pattern on the back. She opted for minimal jewelry, apart from a spider-shaped ring. Her long brunette hair was styled in loose, tousled waves, and she sported full eyelashes, a subtle rosy blush, and a berry-colored lip.
The actress is making a statement with her unique fashion choice, wearing a cobweb-covered dress that sets her apart during the movie’s promotional tour. This trend is also seen with other actresses such as Margot Robbie, who has inspired a book solely dedicated to her outfits during the Barbie press tour, and Zendaya, who stunned in a cobweb-inspired Valentino dress at the 2021 Los Angeles premiere of Spiderman: No Way Home. She even accessorized with a couture eye mask, paying homage to the masked superheroes often seen in comic books.
At the beginning of the Madame Web press tour, Johnson began with a more relaxed outfit for a photo call on January 31st in London. She wore a low-cut black Versace skirt and top combination, along with stylish black kitten heels and silver hoop earrings.
During the filming, Johnson shared with Variety that it was a unique and unfamiliar experience. In an interview with the outlet in January, she described it as “wild” and stated that it cannot be prepared for. However, she also expressed how much she learned from the process, noting that it was a completely different approach to filmmaking.
