The revival of bohemian style was showcased at Chloe’s Paris Fashion Week event.

The catwalk show, which featured the debut collection of creative director Chemena Kamali, was one of the most highly anticipated events on the schedule.

At 42 years old, Kamali put forth a formidable concept for the brand, drawing inspiration from Chloe’s 1970s collections and incorporating her unique twist on boho fashion.

She expressed to Vogue that her goal for her first fashion show was to achieve a sense of lightness and flow, along with strong proportions and standout outerwear pieces. These items would be timeless and iconic, easily recognizable as being from the brand Chloe.

She specifically drew inspiration from Karl Lagerfeld’s Chloe collections from the 1970s, which she characterized as exuding an “effortless femininity.” This description aptly captures the essence of her debut collection as well.

The performance began with a person showcasing a short black leather cover over a loose white dress that ended with long sleeves.

The collection featured a bohemian-style, festival fashion theme, with flared patchwork jeans paired with ruffled lace tops, see-through and airy dresses with caped coats, and fringed leather jackets for a touch of edginess.

Blouses played a significant role in the collection, which may not be surprising, as Kamali has a strong passion for them. She shared with Vogue that she possesses approximately 600-700 retro designs.

The muted color palette featured varying shades of beige paired with hints of peach and powder blue. The styling was effortlessly simple, showcasing loose waves and minimal makeup on the models, who included renowned fashion figures such as Doutzen Kroes and Vittoria Ceretti.

The accessories, too, evoked a sense of the 1970s. Bold sunglasses were paired with large gold jewelry, and bags were adorned with matching gold hardware.

Although the collection drew inspiration from previous eras, Kamali successfully gave it a contemporary update. The pieces incorporated modern elements, such as a sophisticated take on logomania, featuring models adorned with gold belts spelling out ‘Chloe’ in cursive script.

Kamali appeared to put her own twist on the popular styles seen on the runways, such as the trend for extremely short shorts and boots that reach up to the thigh.

Last year in October, she assumed the position previously held by Uruguayan designer Gabriela Hearst, whose influence on the Chloe brand was characterized by a more handcrafted and vibrant style.

Kamali, a German native, has a extensive background with the brand. She began as an intern and has collaborated with former lead designers such as Phoebe Philo and Clare Waight Keller. She also spent time working with Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent.

At the conclusion of the show, she emotionally bowed while wearing flared jeans, a beige blouse, and loose hair, reflecting the aesthetic of the runway.

Marisa Abela, playing the role of Amy Winehouse in the upcoming biopic “Back To Black,” donned wide-leg jeans paired with a black utility vest cinched with a belt.
