Two 12-year-old boys have been accused of committing the homicide of a 19-year-old male in Wolverhampton.
Emergency medical personnel were summoned to an area near Laburnum Road in East Park on Monday, but Shawn Seesahai was declared deceased at the location.
The West Midlands Police announced that two minors, whose identities are protected by law, have been accused of both committing murder and possessing a weapon.
They will be held in custody until their court appearance at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
A representative from the police force stated that two boys have been charged with the murder of 19-year-old Shawn Seesahai in Wolverhampton on Monday evening.
On Tuesday evening, the 12-year-olds were taken into custody and later charged after the court issued a warrant for their continued detention.
The boys are facing charges for possessing a bladed item.
Both underage boys, whose identities are being protected, have been detained and will appear in Birmingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
“Police patrols are continuing in East Park to offer reassurance to the public and our thoughts remain with Shawn’s family and friends.”
A manhunt was launched near Stowlawn Primary School after an incident, resulting in nearby roads being closed as police searched for evidence.
Mr Seesahai’s mother said in a statement previously released through police: “Shawn Seesahai was a courageous, compassionate and confident young soul who sadly lost his life at the age of 19.
He was eagerly anticipating achieving numerous future goals and dreams.
He had a strong affection for his loved ones and enjoyed lending a hand to others. He was known for his generosity and pleasant demeanor.
He will forever hold a place in our hearts.
