Jude Bellingham’s availability for England’s upcoming matches against Malta and North Macedonia is uncertain, as Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelloti stated that the 20-year-old is unable to play due to a shoulder injury.
Bellingham was unable to participate in Real Madrid’s 5-1 victory against Valenica on Saturday due to an issue, and he has now been absent from the team’s last two games.
The 20-year-old sustained an injury during the match against Rayo Vallecano last weekend and received extensive wrapping around his shoulder after falling.
Bellingham, who played a key role in England’s 3-1 victory against Italy last month, securing their spot at Euro 2024 under manager Gareth Southgate, is likely to join the team for evaluation during the November training session. However, Ancelotti believes his player should not be included in the lineup.
“I anticipate him returning to Spain quickly after his evaluation,” stated Ancelotti on Saturday evening. “If he was unable to play today, he will not be able to play for England.”
“He will have to complete targeted exercises to improve the strength of his shoulder, which he plans to do in the upcoming weeks. I anticipate him being able to return to play after the international break.”
James Maddison and Callum Wilson have withdrawn from England’s team for the upcoming matches against Malta and North Macedonia on November 17th and 20th due to injuries. The Three Lions will play at Wembley Stadium before traveling to North Macedonia.
Maddison will not be available until the start of the new year due to an ankle injury sustained during Tottenham’s loss to Chelsea on Monday evening. Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that the injury is more severe than initially anticipated.
Wilson was injured in Newcastle’s recent Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund and was unable to play in their 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday due to a hamstring injury.
Later, the manager of Newcastle, Eddie Howe, announced that Wilson will be sidelined for a period of time. He stated, “Callum will not join England on their travels. He will be unavailable for several weeks.”
