Jimmy Kimmel, the host of a late-night show, criticized GOP nominee Vivek Ramaswamy for a disrespectful remark he made during the third GOP debate.
On Wednesday night, the Republican presidential debate occurred in Miami with only five participants. This was due to former vice president Mike Pence ending his campaign and leading candidate Donald Trump’s absence.
During the debate, foreign policy matters took center stage, particularly the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the candidates continued to exchange insults.
However, there was one specific moment that caught the notice of Mr. Kimmel, causing the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to criticize entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as a “strange and unlikable caricature of a person”.
“Vivek committed one of the most foolish actions a candidate could possibly do,” stated Mr. Kimmel.
He made an unexpected comment about one of Nikki Haley’s children.
During the debate, Mr. Kimmel mentioned a particularly intense moment when former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley called Mr. Ramaswamy “scum” after he mentioned her daughter.
On Thursday evening, Jimmy Kimmel playfully teased Ramaswamy during his talk show appearance.

“In the previous debate, Mr Ramaswamy criticized me for joining TikTok, despite the fact that his own daughter has been using the app for a significant amount of time. Perhaps he should prioritize his family before making judgments.”
Ms. Haley responded, “Keep my daughter out of your conversation. You are simply disgusting.”
Mr. Kimmel made fun of both candidates during the exchange, commenting on Ms. Haley’s remarks: “Sounds like the initial version of what Will Smith shouted at Chris Rock,” in reference to the moment when Smith punched Rock on stage at the Oscars after a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.
In the midst of the discussion, TikTok became a significant topic of conversation as the Republican candidates for the White House debated about foreign policy.

The application is owned by ByteDance, a company based in Beijing. Its connections to the Chinese government have raised concerns for the US government.

During the previous Republican debate, Ms Haley and Mr Ramaswamy disagreed on their positions regarding the banned app that was used on government devices earlier this year.
Mr Ramaswamy was asked why he decided to join the video-sharing app despite the ban. “Part of how we win elections is reaching the next generation of young Americans where we are,” he said at the time.
Ms. Haley responded, stating that this is frustrating because TikTok is one of the riskiest social media apps available.
She expressed to Mr Ramaswamy that every time she hears him, she feels a decrease in her intelligence due to his words.
“According to reports, there are currently 150 million users on TikTok. This raises concerns about the potential access to personal information such as contacts, financial details, emails, and text messages. It is believed that China has knowledge of these actions and their intentions.”
Ms. Haley has been outspoken in her criticism of TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance Ltd., which is owned by China. She has also expressed concerns about China’s impact on US political affairs.
In March, during a campaign event in Nashville, Tennessee, she had demanded a complete prohibition of the app, citing it as a “Trojan horse” for the Chinese Communist Party.
