The medical facility involved in allegations of staff trying to view the private medical documents of Princess of Wales has promised to take all necessary measures.
According to reports, a staff member at the London Clinic in Marylebone tried to access Kate’s records while she was receiving treatment there for 13 days in January, after undergoing abdominal surgery.
The CEO of the London Clinic, Al Russell, stated that individuals who deliberately violate the trust of patients or colleagues have no place at the hospital.
The UK’s data confidentiality overseer, the ICO, is investigating the purported violation of royal data and is currently evaluating the details.
If hospital employees are found to have unlawfully viewed her records, they may be charged with a crime by the data protection authority and fined without limit.
The health minister, Maria Caulfield, stated that accessing unauthorized notes is a serious and severe matter.
She mentioned that the police were asked to investigate whether clinic employees tried to access the princess’s confidential medical records.
After the clinic launched an inquiry into the harmful accusations, Caulfield made a statement.
On January 16, the princess underwent abdominal surgery and has not resumed her royal duties.
Specifics about her health have not been revealed, however, Kensington Palace previously stated that it was not related to cancer. Additionally, the princess has expressed a desire for her personal medical details to be kept confidential.
A representative from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) stated on Tuesday: “We have received a notification of a security breach and are currently reviewing the details provided.”
The London Clinic will handle this issue, according to Kensington Palace.
The Metropolitan Police and The London Clinic were both asked for a statement.
A source informed The Mirror that the purported incursion had a significant impact on the hospital. Top management promptly reached out to royal aides to assure them that a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted.
According to reports, employees have been left feeling “extremely surprised and upset” upon hearing that a co-worker may have been behind the breach of trust and ethical standards.
The ongoing social media craze surrounding Kate’s health, withdrawal from public appearances, and a manipulated photo released on Mother’s Day has caused much discussion.
Last week, Kate was spotted with her spouse at the Windsor Farm Shop, located near their Adelaide cottage residence on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
According to the 40-year-old Nelson Silva, who captured footage of Kate shopping, the claims of conspiracy theorists are “unrealistic”.
He stated, “I am not surprised that these comments have persisted, but rather perplexed as to how they continue on.”
“This is a visual recording that clearly depicts her and William. I personally witnessed them myself in a very laid-back environment.”
According to the newspaper, the royal couple observed Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis participating in a sports event on Sunday morning.
The upcoming Queen has appeared in public twice following her surgery.
The government of Downing Street is encouraging the public to show support for Kate as she recuperates from her illness, amidst various unfounded theories about her well-being.
After receiving a breach report, the UK’s privacy and data protection watchdog responded to claims regarding medical records.
A representative from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) stated on Tuesday: “We can verify that we have received a report of a breach and are reviewing the information provided.”
The Metropolitan Police and The London Clinic have been requested to provide a statement.
