The manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, has faith that Mohamed Salah’s unstoppable determination to score goals will never cease.
The Egyptian player netted a goal during the 6-1 victory over Sparta Prague in the Europa League, reaching a total of 20 goals this season. He is now the first player in the team’s history to achieve this feat for seven consecutive years.
Klopp stated that during the seven years he has been with him, consistency has never been an issue. This was said following the first start of the Egypt international since New Year’s Day, after recovering from a hamstring injury.
“Mohammed’s relentless drive and dedication to scoring shines through in his continuous delivery and consistent quality.”
Since beginning at this location, he has shown marked improvement in numerous areas. It is clear that he is determined to continue making progress.
I am not as surprised as others may be. I believed it had already occurred, but he was previously injured. Otherwise, it would have happened in January or February.
“Excellent, fantastic, and wonderful to have him return.”
Salah notched two assists for teammates Bobby Clark and Cody Gakpo, each of whom scored twice. Goals were also scored by Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Klopp acknowledged that he wanted to give him a break sooner, but he was pleased that he was able to play a full 90 minutes, which he hadn’t done in two months.
The initial intention was not for him to play the entire 90 minutes. We had planned to substitute him with Mateusz (Musialowski), but Bobby Clark reported that he had felt something. However, Mo has enough experience to recover during the match.
I instructed him to no longer defend – I have never given that instruction to a player before.
Liverpool advanced to the quarter-finals with a decisive 11-2 aggregate score, effectively eliminating any chances of a comeback from the Czech champions.
Klopp stated, “The boys had an impressive start to the game and being up 4-0 in just 14 minutes is quite unusual. After that, the game took a strange turn. How can we maintain our motivation now?”
Brian Priske, the leader of Sparta, conceded that his team was completely outplayed.
“He expressed admiration for Liverpool’s performance in both legs, recognizing the vast difference in levels between Sparta and Liverpool.”
“We have never encountered anything like this before. Liverpool is a prominent team in the Champions League and they deserve to be competing in it.”
