On Friday, March 8th, a group of demonstrators in support of Palestine damaged a significant painting located at the University of Cambridge.
A video captures Palestine Action painting over a 1914 artwork featuring Lord Arthur Balfour, the individual responsible for the 1917 Balfour Declaration. This declaration expressed the British government’s support for “a national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine.
Palestine Action stated that Britain has consistently backed the continued colonization of Palestine since 1917.
A representative from Trinity College expressed remorse for the portrait of Arthur James Balfour being damaged while the college was open to the public. The police have been notified.
