Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by leading his team to a 3-0 victory at the Allianz Arena against Lazio, overcoming their initial disadvantage from the previous leg.
After losing the first match in Rome with a score of 1-0, Bayern was unable to score until Kane’s header from a short distance, marking his 50th goal in European competitions.
Just before halftime, Thomas Muller scored another header to increase the team’s lead on the night. Meanwhile, Matthijs de Ligt’s volley traveled quickly through the six-yard area.
Ciro Immobile, the scorer of Lazio’s initial spot-kick in the previous game, had his best opportunity to score just before Kane equalized the match.
However, Immobile missed the goal with his header from six yards, even though it seemed like a straightforward opportunity to score.
After 66 minutes, Bayern secured their advancement into the quarter-finals of a tournament they have been victorious in six occasions.
Kane was able to score his second goal of the night and his 33rd goal for Bayern in just as many games after Leroy Sane’s shot was deflected and redirected towards him. Kane had to quickly adjust his footing in order to successfully score.
Paris Saint-Germain easily advanced to the quarter-finals thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe, securing a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad and a total score of 4-1.
With a two-goal advantage from the previous match, PSG had a relaxed performance.
In the fifth minute, Mbappe, who has the most goals in Europe’s top five leagues this season, showed a glimpse of his skill when he almost scored from Fabian Ruiz’s pass, narrowly missing the bar.
In the Champions League game, PSG quickly took control and scored within 15 minutes thanks to Mbappe’s fifth goal of the season. Mbappe expertly curved the ball into the far post for the score.
Mbappe punished Sociedad again 11 minutes into the second half, bursting on to Lee Kang-in’s through ball and whipping the ball in majestically at the near post. Mikel Merino scored a consolation for Sociedad a minute from time.
