In October, three individuals from Sara Sharif’s family will stand trial for the murder of a 10-year-old child.
Last year on August 10th in Woking, Surrey, the body of a child was found hidden under a blanket in a bunk bed at her residence. The notes found under her pillow and a collection of both healed and healing injuries led prosecutors to describe a troubling pattern.
Urfan Sharif, the father, Beinash Batool, the stepmother, and Faisal Malik, the uncle, all denied the charges of murder and causing or allowing the death of a child between December 16th, 2022 and August 9th, 2023.
All three stared and showed no emotion as they appeared at the Old Bailey by video-link on Friday, with Judge Mark Lucraft setting a date for their trial on 1 October.
The judge announced that the trial would last approximately six weeks and would be presided over by Mr Justice Cavanagh of the High Court.
During a previous court session, it was stated that authorities discovered Sara’s deceased body hidden under a blanket on a bunk bed in her residence. This was after they received a call from Pakistan at 2:47am on August 10, which lasted for 8 minutes and 34 seconds.
The defendants are accused of having reserved a flight to the country 48 hours in advance.
Sara’s body was found the day after the trio departed for Pakistan, accompanied by five children.
