An older brother who admitted to causing the death of his disabled brother through starvation experienced nausea as he received his sentence on Monday, February 26th. He was ordered to serve at least 30 years and up to 100 years in prison.
Paul Ferguson, a 21-year-old from Michigan, admitted to committing first-degree child abuse in the tragic death of 15-year-old Timothy Ferguson, who had autism and suffered from speech and motor impairments.
44-year-old Shanda Vander Ark, mother of Paul and Timothy, was found guilty of murder and child abuse and given a life sentence with no possibility of parole.
According to prosecutors, Paul and Vander Ark allegedly subjected Timothy to freezing baths, sleep deprivation, hot sauce consumption, and restricting access to the fridge and food cabinets.
He passed away due to lack of proper nutrition and extreme cold temperatures.
