In the South Carolina GOP primary, Nikki Haley was defeated by former president Donald Trump.
The ex-president’s victory was first estimated to occur at 7pm on Saturday evening, coinciding with the closure of polls.
Donald Trump won as expected against Nikki Haley in her home state, where she was governor from 2011 to 2017.
This is another loss for ex-UN Ambassador Haley, who promised to keep challenging Mr Trump despite losing many primary elections.
Even though she lost to the “none of these candidates” option on the Nevada ballot, Ms. Haley remained determined.
On Saturday, she reaffirmed her commitment to stay in the race, stating that she will keep her promise regardless of the outcome in South Carolina.
During his nearly 90-minute speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, Mr. Trump likened migrants to Hannibal Lecter and stated that they are arriving from “insane asylums.”
On Saturday, the ex-president discussed his attempts to spread anti-Biden messages, claiming that “migrant crime” should be considered a distinct type of crime.
Despite losing her home state of South Carolina, Haley remains committed to competing in the Republican race for the 2024 presidential election.

However, exit polls in four states showed an average of 40% of voters who supported former Governor Nikki Haley will not vote for Trump. Scaramucci stated that Trump’s path to the presidency relies heavily on gaining crossover votes, something he and his team are aware of.
59% of the people who voted for Nikki Haley have stated that they will not support Trump in the upcoming general election.
