Aldi is recalling a well-known pasta bake product due to concerns about allergies. The ready-to-eat meal contains an allergen that is not listed on the packaging.
Customers who have purchased the Carlos takeaway meat feast pasta bake are advised to return the product due to an incorrect label that fails to disclose the presence of mustard.
Mustard is among the fourteen primary food allergies and presents a significant danger to individuals with allergies.
The FSA stated that this product contains mustard, posing a potential health hazard for individuals with a mustard allergy.
“If you have purchased the product listed above and are allergic to mustard, please refrain from consuming it. Instead, kindly return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.”
The remaining top 14 allergens include celery, grains, shellfish, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, mollusks, peanuts, sesame, soy, sulphites, and tree nuts.
The symptoms may differ among individuals, with some experiencing mild effects like hives and vomiting.
The prevalence of mustard allergy in the UK is uncertain as it is not a significant component of the average diet, unlike in nations like France, according to Allergy UK.
This notice is for 600g items labeled with a ‘best before’ date of February 25, 26, and 27, 2024 (code 731020).
A representative from Aldi stated that their supplier is issuing a recall for the Carlos Takeaway Meat Feast Pasta Bake as a precautionary measure. This is due to an incorrect label and the presence of mustard in the product.
“If you have purchased this product, please return it to the nearest store for a complete refund. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
