Jurgen Klopp expressed doubt that all the top teams in Europe would attempt to acquire Kylian Mbappe this summer, stating that many of them do not have the financial means to do so.
The captain of France has informed Paris Saint-Germain of his plans to depart at the conclusion of the current season, once his contract has ended.
Mbappe, who scored three goals in the 2022 World Cup final and holds the record for 243 goals with PSG, could potentially be released for free. However, PSG has the option to extend his contract for another year, which may result in a transfer fee for any potential deals.
Mikel Arteta stated that Arsenal must be considered as a potential destination for players of Mbappe’s caliber, despite the likelihood of the forward joining Real Madrid.
Klopp will depart from Liverpool and will not be involved in their recruitment strategy. As for the possibility of the forward joining Real, he admits to having no knowledge. However, the German acknowledges that Mbappe’s price tag may be too high for many top clubs.
I am not directly involved in this matter, but I would be astonished if all the leading clubs were interested in him,” stated Klopp. “For the majority of top clubs, it will be a challenge due to salary and signing bonuses.”
PSG spent €180m to acquire Mbappe from Monaco in 2017. Real Madrid made a bid of €200m for him in 2021, and last summer, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal offered a staggering £259m, setting a new world record.
According to reports, the 25-year-old’s annual salary at PSG is estimated to be €200m, making it difficult for other clubs to afford him.
