Kylian Mbappe, a French forward, has informed Paris St Germain that he plans to depart from the team after this season concludes.
According to the PA news agency, the exact conditions of his departure have not been completely finalized. It is anticipated that official confirmation will come in the coming months once those details have been settled.
Nevertheless, the French club’s executives have been informed by the World Cup victor of his desire to depart.
Mbappe’s existing agreement with PSG will end in the upcoming summer. As of 1 January, he has been permitted to engage in pre-contract negotiations with other teams.
The 25-year-old has been heavily rumored to be transferring to Real Madrid.
The club views Mbappe’s departure as the last stage in transitioning away from the previous strategy of flashy and high-profile signings, which was also seen with the departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
The PSG team is looking to make changes to their roster and will allocate the funds saved from Mbappe’s annual salary – estimated at €300m (£171m) – towards signing new players and extending contracts for promising young players like Warren Zaire-Emery, Xavi Simons, and Bradley Barcola.
UEFA is gradually implementing financial sustainability rules that mandate clubs participating in its tournaments to maintain squad expenses below 70% of their revenue by 2025-26.
During the previous summer, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was offered a record-breaking bid of £259m from Al Hilal for Mbappe. The player was granted permission to discuss terms with the Saudi club.
Although, it was stated that Mbappe declined the opportunity to even consider transferring to Al Hilal when representatives from the club visited Paris.
He was excluded from participating in PSG’s primary team practices due to a disagreement in his contract, but on 13 August, he was readmitted after having “productive and amicable discussions”.
