An 11-year-old boy’s grandmother was fatally injured by two dogs during a visit to Jaywick.
Police were alerted to an incident on Hillman Avenue at around 4pm on Saturday. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, identified by her family as Esther Martin, with severe injuries.
The individual, aged 68 and residing in Woodford Green, London, was declared deceased at the location. It is believed that the incident involved two bully-type dogs of XL size.
A male suspect, aged 39, has been apprehended for suspected violations involving a dangerous canine and is currently undergoing interrogation by investigative authorities.
The authorities had to euthanize the dogs and stated that specialists would later verify their breed.
Sonia Martin, the daughter of the victim from Chesterfield, shared with Mail Online that the dogs responsible for the attack were large and aggressive. In total, there were six puppies and two adult dogs in the household.
“Her grandson was inside the house and came running out, calling for assistance. We are grateful to all the neighbors who attempted to aid our mother.”
Chief Superintendent Glen Pavelin expressed gratitude to the individuals who attempted to assist Esther Martin by entering the house. He commended them for their efforts.
According to a statement from a police representative, our investigations have been aimed at determining the events leading up to the incident. It appears that the victim was attacked by two dogs.
He stated that the area is now secure for the general public.
Superintendent Glen Pavelin expressed his condolences to the family of the woman who passed away yesterday, on behalf of himself and the police force.
