The individual who passed away after an alleged attack at Elgin bus station has been identified as Keith Rollinson, a bus driver.
Police were summoned to Elgin bus station, located on St Giles Road, at approximately 10:40pm on Friday following reports of a 58-year-old man being assaulted.
He was transported to Dr. Grays Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
A teenager, 15, has been taken into custody and faced with charges related to the event. He will be making an appearance at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday, February 5th, 2024.
The Aberdeen CID’s Detective Inspector Gavin Fleming expressed that they are keeping Keith’s family in their thoughts and providing them with assistance during this challenging period. The family has requested for their privacy to be honored.
On Saturday, the Elgin bus station shut down due to a police investigation. As a result, Stagecoach Bluebird, the operator, had to cancel several services.
“We are deeply saddened and shocked by this news. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of our driver who has tragically passed away,” stated a representative from Stagecoach North Scotland.
Ensuring safety is our top concern and occurrences such as this are highly uncommon.
We are making every effort to provide support for our colleagues and the family of our driver, while also aiding the police in their investigation.
Online condolences and messages of sympathy have been expressed for the Stagecoach employee.
Melanie Smith expressed her condolences, stating that the loss of Keith’s life is truly tragic. She remembers him as a wonderful person and a beloved member of the Stagecoach community who will be deeply missed.
Kirstin Sutherland expressed her sadness and offered her thoughts to the family, friends, and coworkers of the truly kind man who has passed away.
