The Premier League will resume this weekend following the midweek games. The FPL deadline for selecting players is Saturday at 11pm GMT before the Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur match.
With Mohamed Salah dealing with a hamstring injury acquired while playing for Egypt and Son Heung-min still competing in the Asian Cup, Fantasy Premier League managers may need to make some strategic financial decisions in the near future.
Another obstacle to consider is the upcoming gameweeks 25 and 26. In GW25, Manchester City has been given a favorable double at home (could it be time for a triple captain?). However, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham will all have a blank GW26.
Take a closer look at these potential choices for your transfers this week:
Newcastle United’s Fabian Schar is a defender with a value of £5.2m.
Newcastle’s defense has been a concern due to its lack of solidity this season. However, there has been improvement in recent games with three out of their last four ending in wins. Their win against Villa Park was especially notable. Fabian Schar played a crucial role in this victory, scoring two goals. He should be considered for upcoming matches against Luton, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth, as he has taken the most shots among all centre-backs this season with a total of 22.
Andreas Pereira, a midfielder for Fulham, has a value of £5.3m.
A potentially valuable underutilized option at the moment could be Andreas Pereira, a Brazilian midfielder for Fulham. He played a significant role in their offensive strategy against Everton in their recent match, which had numerous opportunities but surprisingly ended in a 0-0 draw. Andreas had an expected goal contribution of 0.46 and was a threat to both score and assist during the game. He has already provided six assists this season and ranks sixth in the league for key passes. With favorable upcoming fixtures against Burnley, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa, we can anticipate Andreas earning more points in the near future.
Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal (£8.0m, forward)
To change up your attacking strategy, consider Gabriel Jesus, who has accumulated 15 points in his last two games with a goal and two assists. Despite being overlooked as a reliable choice for FPL, his statistics have been steadily improving throughout the season. In fact, he ranks above popular FPL picks Dominic Solanke and Ollie Watkins in terms of expected goal involvements per 90 minutes this season. While Jesus may not convert these expected numbers as often as we expect, his rate of 0.66 goal involvements per 90 is still impressive, tying with Solanke and just behind Julian Alvarez. Following a tough match against Liverpool this weekend, Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures include Burnley and Sheffield United away, as well as Brentford at home.
Nathan Ake of Manchester City is a £5.5 million defender.
In the next six rounds of the game, Manchester City has the most favorable schedule, with four games at home. In game week 25, they will have a double game week where they will face Brentford and Chelsea. It is likely that you already have some of their top attacking players, such as Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Julian Alvarez, or Phil Foden, in your FPL team. However, if you want to complete a triple up, consider adding Nathan Ake as a defensive option. Ake recently scored in the FA Cup against Tottenham and has taken the most shots in the box out of all defenders over the past six gameweeks. He is a regular starter and even when he does miss a game, it is unlikely that he will only earn one point as a substitute. As long as you have decent substitutes, missing a game from Ake should not be a major concern.
Anthony Gordon, a midfielder for Newcastle United, has a value of £6.1m.
We are currently keeping an eye on Anthony Gordon, a player from Newcastle. He was highly sought after earlier in the season, but after not performing well for four out of five games, he was dropped by many. However, Gordon has bounced back with a goal and an assist in his recent matches against Liverpool and Manchester City. He ranks eighth among midfielders for shots taken this season and ninth for expected goal involvements. This week’s home game against Luton should give him ample chances to score points.
