Experts are closing in on Kingussie Kong, the escaped monkey, who has been spotted hiding in the Highlands region.

The escaped monkey from Highlands zoo has been located using drone footage.

A monkey, which fled from a zoo in Scotland, was recently spotted concealed in trees in drone footage, following its successful evasion of zookeeper’s search efforts over several days.

The Japanese macaque, also known as Kingussie Kong, was observed sitting below a cluster of branches. Experts confirmed that the monkey was in good physical condition.

On Sunday, a primate escaped from Highland Wildlife Park in Kingussie, Inverness and was later seen attempting to steal nuts from a birdfeeder a few miles away from the zoo.

A representative from the Highland Wildlife Park reported that there was a sighting of the macaque this morning and they are currently addressing the situation.

“Throughout the day, our team of experts will be conducting patrols in the area, utilizing various methods to entice him and also enlisting the help of a thermal imaging drone contractor to aid in the search.”

The employees at the park, which is managed by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), advised the public to refrain from approaching the primate. They also mentioned that zookeepers are actively searching for the animal.

A primate that fled from a nature reserve in Scotland two days ago has been seen once again as attempts to recapture it persist. The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) reported that keepers are currently responding to a sighting of the Japanese Macaque near the town of Kinguisse on Tuesday morning (30 January). Thermal imaging drones are being utilized in the search for the monkey, which managed to escape from its enclosure at Highland Wildlife Park. Residents in the surrounding area are being urged to bring in any food that may be stored outside in order to entice the monkey back to the park when it becomes hungry, and are advised not to approach the animal.

According to reports, a monkey of the same species escaped from the same zoo 16 years ago, but was caught again within an hour.

In 2008, a Japanese animal escaped from Highland Wildlife Park. Sadly, three of the animals passed away at the park earlier in the same year. One monkey was attacked and killed by a rival in February. Another had to be euthanized, and a third drowned.

According to the zookeeper, the monkey may have been trying to escape from a fight.

According to a zookeeper, the monkey that fled from a Scottish zoo may have been trying to avoid a confrontation during mating season.

According to Keith Gilchrist, a member of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, the primate’s sudden escape could have been due to heightened tension within the group.

“It’s a very dynamic group of animals with quite a strong hierarchy. This time of year is breeding season so tensions run a little bit high and some times fights break out over breeding rights,” Mr Gilchrist told the BBC.

When this occurs, the animals’ adrenaline can overpower their instincts and instead of fighting, this particular one has chosen to take action and break through the fence of its enclosure.

What is a Japanese macaque?

According to the New England primate conservancy, Japanese macaques, also known as Japanese snow macaques or snow monkeys, inhabit three of Japan’s four main islands – Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. They are the northernmost species of macaque.

Their faces resemble those of humans without any fur, and their eyes are full of emotion. They also have pockets in their cheeks to store food. When they reach adulthood, their faces and behinds turn red.

Macaques possess opposable thumbs which are utilized for manipulating items. They navigate by using all four limbs (quadrupedal movement), but are also capable of walking on their hind legs (bipedal) while carrying objects with both hands.

In case you missed it: A macaque was seen roaming yesterday morning, leaving one person to believe they were seeing things.

The Independent spoke with Tony Brown, the founder of Forces Manor, who stated that he operates a location that provides housing for British armed forces members and veterans.

Initially, we believed it to be a cadet wearing camouflage as part of a training exercise for escaping and evading.

“We offered a hotel room, but the monkey declined to provide his address, so we turned him away.”

“At first, the monkey strolled by our building, passing the veteran’s lounge and my office.”

“I was taken aback – the sight was quite uncommon.” It proceeded to enter a neighbor’s yard and I trailed after it.

I noticed that a member of the Wildlife Trust was also observing the monkey. They informed me that it is not harmful, but advised me to keep my distance.

“As a former soldier, I am not easily surprised, but what I saw was definitely a shocking sight. I even questioned if I was seeing things.”

“I was unable to keep pace with it and it escaped. It is not small like a kitten, but rather the size of a medium-sized dog.”

The creature gazed at me, its rosy visage pondering, “Will you offer me sustenance or cast me away?”

“It’s a relief that the escaped animal was not the tiger.”

“The missing monkey was spotted by a couple, making the experience truly remarkable.”

A pair of individuals who spotted a monkey in their backyard over the weekend described the encounter as “extremely surreal”.

On Sunday morning, Carl Nagle, 49, and Tiina Salzberg, 50, spotted a monkey from their patio doors in Kincraig near Kingussie.

The animal ate the nuts from their bird feeder and sat on their garden fence for approximately 15 minutes before scurrying off.

Ms. Salzberg, the chief strategy officer of a marketing consultancy firm, expressed to the PA news agency that they were amazed by the sight of a Japanese snow monkey in their garden in a remote village.

The experience was extremely chaotic, as we were both jostling each other in an attempt to capture the best video and camera shots.

“It was an amazing experience, something I will never forget.”

According to Mr Nagle, seeing snow monkeys in his backyard in the Highlands was an unexpected and surreal experience, even though he has previously encountered them in the wild.

What is the definition of a Japanese macaque?

According to the New England primate conservancy, Japanese macaques, also known as Japanese snow macaques or snow monkeys, inhabit three of Japan’s four main islands—Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu—and have the northernmost range of all macaque species.

As adults, these creatures develop red facial features and bottoms and also possess human-like facial features with exposed skin and expressive eyes. They also have specialized pouches on their cheeks for storing food.

All macaques have opposable thumbs that they use to manipulate objects. They use all four limbs to get around (quadrupedal movement), but also walk just on their hind legs (bipedal) when holding something in both hands.
