A passenger on a plane was justified in not allowing a man to sit in the unoccupied seat next to him.

A traveler on a plane has caused a discussion about proper behavior while traveling by refusing to let another passenger sit in the unoccupied seat next to them.

A Redditor recently posted on the well-known subreddit “Am I The A**hole?” about an experience on a three-hour flight. They and their friend bought the final seat in their row because it was her inaugural flight and she suffers from extreme social anxiety.

In a post on Reddit, he shared that while she was sitting by the window, I joined her and a man then joined us and sat on the armrest of the unoccupied seat to converse with his family members on the opposite side in a very loud manner.

The traveler then caught the man’s notice and informed him that the unoccupied seat was already “reserved” due to their payment for additional space. As mentioned in the post, this resulted in the man loudly expressing his dissatisfaction to his family and making fun of him.

Later, he stood beside us in the airplane aisle for most of the flight. He was loud and used a lot of hand gestures, and at one point a staff member had to tell him to quiet down. He also came very close to me, possibly trying to provoke me. I was sitting near the aisle because my friend was sleeping and had her legs stretched out in the middle seat.

The individual who posted on Reddit expressed surprise that the airline crew did not take action, but admits they do not have enough experience flying to know what the protocol is. The passenger on the flight questioned, “Shouldn’t you stay seated unless you have a valid reason to get up?”

The post ended by asking for opinions from commenters about the situation. The person in question continued to talk about the flight and give disapproving looks to their relatives, but I simply laughed because I believed they were drawing attention to themselves.
