Jimmy Kimmel implored Nikki Haley to allow Donald Trump to undergo a mental competency evaluation, following Trump’s assertion that he would emerge victorious in a hypothetical competition against his Republican opponent.
The ex-president emerged victorious in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, however Ms Haley remains determined to continue the competition, as the host quipped on his late night talk show on Wednesday. He joked that she still has many states left to potentially not win.
Mr. Kimmel provided Ms. Haley with career guidance, suggesting that she could still come out ahead in some way if she agrees to undergo a mental competency evaluation alongside her competitor.
After losing in New Hampshire, Ms. Haley stated to her supporters that Mr. Trump had said he would perform better on a mental competence exam than her.
Ms. Haley suggested that he would have no problem joining her on a debate stage if he truly believes in his stance.
Mr. Kimmel aired the video on his program and interjected, stating, “Wait a moment, I must interject because you are overlooking the main issue, Nikki. He claimed he could defeat you in a mental aptitude test; all you have to do is agree!”
The late-night talk show host made a joke about how nobody is interested in watching a debate between you and him. Instead, people would rather see Donald Trump take a test where he has to use a paper and pencil to identify shapes like rectangles and squares.
“That is our goal,” he persisted. “Why is it so challenging to comprehend? Do you desire victory, or do you prefer to come in second place 54 more consecutive times?”
There are increasing concerns about Mr. Trump’s mental ability due to a string of mistakes made during his campaign.
During a rally in New Hampshire, Mr. Trump struggled to say the word “climate” correctly, instead pronouncing it as “clime”.
During the event, he asserted that he had “excelled” in a recent cognitive assessment.
Ms. Haley, the Republican rival, was particularly interested in when he appeared to mistake her for Nancy Pelosi, stating that she was responsible for security during the Capitol riot on January 6th.
At a rally on Friday, Mr. Trump stated that Nikki Haley is responsible for security. He also mentioned that they offered 10,000 individuals, including soldiers and National Guard, but their offer was rejected.
Ms. Haley responded to his statements on Saturday, stating that she was not even in Washington DC on January 6, 2021 and that he had confused her with Ms. Pelosi.
She expressed concern about someone’s mental capability to fulfill this task.
After losing to Mr. Trump in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, she revisited the issue.
“I have advocated for mental fitness evaluations for politicians above the age of 75,” she stated.
Although Mr. Kimmel is still hopeful for a mental competency test showdown between the two Republican rivals, he noted that Mr. Trump is currently ahead of Ms. Haley in multiple aspects.
“He won against Nikki Haley with a significant margin; he’s also ahead of her in terms of felony charges, 91 to zero,” he quipped, referring to the former president’s numerous legal battles.
In the meantime, Mr Trump is still using his Truth Social platform to criticize Ms Haley and attack E Jean Carroll as he prepares to go back to court in New York for his defamation case.
