Trump praises DeSantis and Haley for enjoying a positive experience together following the Iowa caucus.
The Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has decided to withdraw from the race for president and is now endorsing former president Donald Trump.
The previous nominee postponed his scheduled press appearances on Sunday, right before the New Hampshire primary, causing speculation about the fate of his campaign.
The media appearances were cancelled by Mr DeSantis’ press secretary, Bryan Griffin, due to a scheduling conflict. This occurred just days before the Republican primary in New Hampshire on Tuesday. According to polls, the Florida governor was behind Donald Trump and Nikki Haley in third place. If he received less than 10% of the vote on Tuesday, as indicated by recent polls from CNN and Suffolk University, he would not have been eligible to receive any delegates from the state.
During a recorded message, Mr. DeSantis expressed his motivation for running for president as a desire to advocate for those who have been overlooked in our nation.
Mr DeSantis came in second in the Iowa caucus, leading some political watchers to think that his campaign might succeed to some extent. Mr Trump is still predicted to be the Republican favourite.
“After coming in second place in Iowa, we have taken time to reflect and consider our next steps,” stated Mr. DeSantis. “If there was any action I could take to achieve a positive result, such as increasing campaign events or interviews, I would do so.”
However, he stated, “I am unable to request our followers to offer their time and contribute their resources if we do not have a definitive plan for winning. As a result, I am announcing the suspension of my campaign today.”
A hesitant endorsement from DeSantis for Trump.
On Sunday, Ron DeSantis reluctantly announced his endorsement of Donald Trump for the presidential election.
Mr. DeSantis noted that a large number of Republican primary voters seem to support the idea of giving Donald Trump another opportunity. He stated this in a matter-of-fact manner, without expressing any praise for Mr. Trump.
“I have made a commitment to stand by the Republican nominee and I intend to keep that promise,” he stated. He then took a jab at the other candidate, Nikki Haley. Mr. DeSantis portrayed her as a representative of the “old school” of the Republican party, a recycled version of corporate interests.
Mr. Trump appeared unfazed by Mr. DeSantis’ strategy, adopting a friendly attitude as fellow rivals in the political arena.
“It’s not easy, I will tell you,” stated Mr. Trump during his speech in Rochester on Sunday evening.
“They believe it is simple to do this, correct? It is not simple.”
Donald Trump is pleased with Ron Desantis’ choice to terminate his campaign for president.
Donald Trump praised Ron DeSantis, who was previously a Republican competitor, for becoming his latest supporter following the Florida governor’s decision to drop out of the presidential race and endorse the former president.
It has become a routine for President Trump to receive support from someone who previously attempted to challenge him.
However, during Sunday’s rally in New Hampshire, it was noteworthy that Mr. Trump commended Mr. DeSantis without using nicknames such as “DeSantimonious” or “DeSanctus”. This may signal the end of the intense competition between these two Republican candidates for the 2024 election.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Ron and offer my congratulations for his exceptional work,” stated Mr. Trump as he began his speech.
“He showed great generosity and gave his endorsement. I am grateful for that and am eager to collaborate with Ron.”
President Trump praised Mr DeSantis as “an exceptional individual”.
Earlier today, Mr. DeSantis announced in a video that he would be suspending his campaign two days prior to the Republican primary in New Hampshire, which is traditionally the first state to hold its primary.
In case you missed it, the well-known account ‘LizaMinnelliOutlives’ shared a post about DeSantis suspending their campaign.
According to a post on X, Liza Minnelli has lived longer than Ron DeSantis’s attempt at running for president. Despite spending a large sum of money, the anti-LGBT candidate did not gain much support and has now suspended his campaign.
When can we expect the results of the New Hampshire primary, which is scheduled for Tuesday?
Although New Hampshire is not expected to experience the severe weather that affected the Iowa caucuses last week, there may still be delays in the results due to extensive hand-counting or potential demands for a recount from a former president known for challenging unfavorable outcomes.
The Secretary of State of New Hampshire, David Scanlan, has instructed election officials to first announce the results of the Republican primary before the Democratic results if there are any delays in hand-counting on the left side of the aisle that may slow down the processing of ballots.

Matt Gaetz appears to refer to Ron DeSantis as a ‘lighter version of Trump’.
At a Sunday gathering in New Hampshire, Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida seemingly refers to Ron DeSantis as ‘Trump lite’ shortly after the governor dropped out of the presidential race.
Mr. Gaetz stated that DeSantis endorsing them at this point highlights a difference in ideas. He believes that DeSantis and Trump shared many of the same ideas, but they ultimately chose Trump over a watered-down version.
DeSantis has officially withdrawn from the election. This decision has significant implications for both President Trump and potential candidate Nikki Haley.
After that, there were only two remaining.
Ron DeSantis’s presidential bid ended unceremoniously on Sunday with a Twitter video marking the end of a campaign that had begun on the same platform. It was a ho-hum but not necessarily surprising end for a candidate who had placed a distant second in a state where he has thrown everything he had against the frontrunner and who faced a difficult primary contest calendar going ahead.
The current contenders for the race are Nikki Haley and Donald Trump. Trump is the clear frontrunner and is expected to win after his significant win in the Iowa caucuses, where he received 51% of the vote. The 2024 GOP primary has followed the same pattern as predicted by polls.
What implications does Sunday’s development have for the two competitors of Mr. DeSantis for the nomination?

DeSantis resigns, ending with an inspiring quote often attributed to Churchill, though there is no evidence that Churchill actually said it.
“Success is not permanent, failure is not deadly; it is having the bravery to persevere that truly matters.”
On Sunday, Mr. DeSantis utilized the quote when he announced his decision to suspend his campaign on X, which was previously known as Twitter.
But, the organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of the former British prime minister had already discredited the notion that the eloquent politician had made this statement.
The organization stated that their claim was supported by thorough research of a collection of fifty million words written by or about Churchill, including his books, articles, speeches, and papers. This statement was in response to a 2013 article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which also utilized the same quote.

According to a report, the leader of DeSantis PAC spent some time working on a jigsaw puzzle while his campaign lost momentum.
Shortly before the Florida governor withdrew from the 2024 presidential race, NBC News released an article criticizing his now-defunct campaign. The article exposed that Scott Wagner, CEO of the super PAC Never Back Down, devoted a considerable amount of time to completing a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle at the group’s headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa.
A member of the Never Back Down team reported to NBC News that while they and their colleagues are committed to getting Gov. DeSantis elected, the CEO, who is also the organization’s chairman, spends hours working on a puzzle.

of Florida gubernatorial race
Donald Trump issued a statement regarding Ron DeSantis withdrawing from the Florida gubernatorial race.
The New York Times’ Nick Corasaniti reports that the Donald Trump campaign has released a statement regarding the Florida governor’s withdrawal from the race on Sunday.
“As the New Hampshire victory for President Donald J. Trump approaches in just a matter of days, we are grateful to receive an endorsement from Governor Ron DeSantis and numerous former presidential contenders,” the statement stated.
The statement urged voters to make a wise decision between Mr. Trump and candidate Nikki Haley.
The statement declared that Nikki Haley is backed by globalists and Democrats, and will work to hinder the America First movement. She supports policies such as increased taxes, weakening Social Security and Medicare, and open borders, aligning more with the beliefs of Democrats than Republicans.
The press secretary of the Democratic National Committee has issued a response to DeSantis’ announcement.
Sarafina Chitika, the national spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee, issued a statement regarding the Florida governor’s decision to suspend his campaign.
Ms Chitika stated in a released statement to The Independent that Ron DeSantis based his entire campaign on the radical MAGA platform, which is also being used by Donald Trump and Nikki Haley. He has now joined the ranks of other GOP members in supporting the original MAGA brand.
“Similar to Trump, DeSantis ran on a platform promising to outlaw abortion across the country, restrict access to healthcare, and cut funding for Social Security and Medicare. He has also shown support for those who deny the results of the election and has downplayed the events of January 6. Whichever candidate appeals to the MAGA base will continue to push for this harmful and unpopular agenda, which will likely be rejected by voters in November.”
